It seems to me that the Monday schedule is missing the traditional big festival headliner. Thoughts?

Trumpet bells ringing
Bass drum is swinging
As the trombone groans
And the big horn moans

So Taj Mahal and John Mayall aren't headliners? They are for more talented than Harper and Franti imho while they may not be the crowd pullers that others may be in terms of talent you dont get much more headliner than either of them.

for me,JOHN MAYALL set will be a highlight as this may be his last trip to aust.,and with PETER GREEN and others with british blues history, the chances of other players joining this great musician on stage should be great.
the old saying-youve got to pay your dues,if you want to sing the blues. i think this guy certainly has done that.

I don't want to hang up my rock n roll shoes
I get a good time feeling every time I hear those blues.

I;m guessing the fray are supposed to fill the mojo slot on monday. thought that crowded house would be a shoe-in. could be a headliner suprise in the third round, but it would buck past history. bring on taj I say :)

Well, R.E.M were part of the final announcement in 2005........

That said, it would take a complete blindside announcement to lure me away from the seemingly likely Mayall/Taj closer in Crossroads.

Contrary to their font size on the poster, there's surely no way The Fray are headline material.

Even though I'd agree that it'll take some convincing to skip Taj/Mayall that'll presumably close out Crossroads, I'd hope there's something better to come for Mojo.

The Fray are really popular...

And terrible. But hey, different strokes.

Even I had heard of the fray, Fray is really popular. Fray themes should be specific enough to evoke personal stories, but general enough to inspire artists and writers alike.

From what Wiki tells me they had a big album 5 years ago (platinum), and a moderate one last year (gold)... to me the kind of success that would warrant maybe an afternoon slot at most major Australian festivals. That's still only 70,000 and 35,000+ record sales respectively, so that doesn't suggest to me they have huge crowd drawing powers.

Basically we need a painful clash like Bonnie Raitt / Ben Harper of 07 before I'll be happy...

Oh of course... forgot about that one, probably partly because I think I made the right decision for me (Fogerty). 2007 would have been better closed by Raitt in retrospect, though Harper's set was one of the best I've seen by him and she did get up with him for one song.

What was painful about that clash. No thought necessary Bonnie. I gave that clash perhaps 2 minutes consideration. I new Harper would be back I couldnt be certain about Bonnie

Anyone know what the tent setup at the new venue is like?

At Red Devil it was easy enough to wander from one tent to another. Only been to Belongil once (last year, so maybe weather made for bad comparison) but it was a long journey between some of the tents, making the option of splitting a clash not really possible.

Just like to say "The Monday Hole" sounds like a great name for a band....

Buddy Guy is without doubt the best guitar player alive.......the way he plays is beyond anyone. Amen
