Without a doubt this is an incredible lineup and the biggest
headache for the organisers must be as to who gets top billing.
Ego is not a dirty word? If they are blues artists they must a
certain degree of humility.

I wouldn't say it's the best. I went in 2008, and while this lineup is good, my vote goes to that year.

Regardless of the promotion, I still don't feel JJ is a big enough headline act. Good guy, and the right fit for Bluesfest? Definitely. But not sellout material.

But hey - Jeff Beck, Buddy Guy, JON CLEARY (YES!!!!!!!), Al Di Meola and more. I'm happy enough, and I'll be there!

Don't forget Joe Bonamassa! I would go just for him alone.

Sensational bill...there's a lot of quirky, dusty roads here to wander down......magic at every turn.

Just need Dave Matthews Band (Mainly) and Derek Trucks and John Mayer - THAT would be the best lineup ever :)

DMB DECIDED AROUND 4 WEEKS AGO NOT TO COME TO AUSTRALIA - AND PLAY BLUESFEST - OF COURSE WE ARE AS DEVASTATED AS THEIR FANS - WE CAN ONLY PROMISE WE WILL KEEP TRYING - WE ARE THEIR FANS TOO
ONE DAY IT WILL HAPPEN

Couldn't agree more about DMB and John Mayer but Derek Trucks leaves me cold personally. I saw him with EC a couple of years ago here in NZ and neither of them did anything for me. Clapton has become a guitar machine (in the worst sense of the word).

Oh well that settles that. Based on that I'm now glad that I gave up waiting for them to come to Byron and I went and saw them earlier this year in the States...Fresno to be precise. Tim Reynolds was with them and of course Jeff Coffin was the complete icing on the cake. Moreover Jason Mraz opened for them complete with a four peice horn section and I gotta say that while Jason gets a lot of bad press here on the forum, I think he's brillient. I've seen him 4 times now twice at Byron in 2008 and of course once last year and the mre I see him the more I like him.

We were there too - our 23rd DMB show! Great show - shame about Dave losing his voice though.

Until you attend a specific Festival, and take in the acts on a live basis,it is difficult to make comparative judgements.
2004 was tops for me,simply because there was so much on display to discover which I was unfamilar with.

2008 would be next, with the opportunity to see...
Ray Davies
Maceo Parker
Jools Holland R & B Orchestra
Wilco
Tribali
Lee Ritenour
Stanley Clarke/George Duke
Patty Griffin
Music Maker Foundation
Michelle Shocked
Mojo Webb
Mavis Staples
Buddy Guy
John Cleary & the Absolute Monster Gentlemen
John Fogerty
John Hiatt
Johnny Greens Blues Cowboys
Jeff lang
JJ Grey & Mofro
Ruthie Foster
Seasick Steve
Elliot Brood
Corb Lund & the Hurtin Albertans
Charlie Musselwhite Band
The Blues Preachers
Emdee
Hat Fitz & Itchy
Worldfly

Awesome Lineup.

2009 To date would be third for me,with...

Rodney Crowell
Special Beat
Big Bad Voodoo Daddy
Sonny Landreth
The Bamboos
C W Stoneking
Dallas Frasca
Eugene Hideaway Bridges
Hot Club of Cowtown
James Hunter
Jeff Lang
Kush Cabaret
Luka Bloom
Mic Conway's National Junk Band
Old Spice Boys
Opposable Thumbs
Pete Cornelius & The Devilles
Ruthie Foster
Seasick Steve
Son Veneno
Soul'd
Tim Finn
Tijuana Cartel
Tinariwen
Tony Joe White
Watermelon Slim & The Workers
Worldfly
Zappa Plays Zappa

The Cabaret Tent was a most important Ingredient for me at Bluesfest 2009,as it enabled a lot of gaps to be filled.

Then there was the Indig Tent which I did not explore at all,but which clearly added an extra dimension to be explored.

As for Bluesfest 2010,I will reserve my judgement until I live the experience.

potentially best line-up ever, although I reckon the actual performances over the course of the fest are the real test....
personal faves are the 98 and 99 line-ups - fest punters started to get more of the bigger international acts, but the old Devil was yet to be packed out and moving in between shows was easy.
