Thanks for posting this even though it's more sad news.

Once again it's great that Bluesfest was able to bring Gregg Allman to Australia a few years back. I loved both his performances at Bluesfest and especially the one with the guest appearance by Warren Haynes I'm pretty sure they played a song written by Warren Haynes (of which I don't know the name) but the lyric went "ÿou'd better duck for cover when the bullets start to fly". And that's a very poignant photo of the Allman Brothers Band because not only are Duane and Gregg both dead but also the drummer Butch Trucks (uncle of Derek Trucks) who died not so long back. But at least their music lives on.

All the memories, what a sharp counter to the bubblegum of that time
When you have more days behind than ahead remember to enjoy each one
Farewell Rambl'in man, and thanks

Heading out for the East Coast / Lord knows I've paid some dues gettin' through, / Tangled up in blues.

Considering his life as a working musican,it is amazing that he made it to age 69.
Bluesfest somehow managed to have him travel all the way down under as one of the out of left field bookings for the 25th anniversary.
The huge number of Southern Rock Fans were privileged to have his presence.

Also, Berry Oakley (bass) passed away a year after Duane in 1972.

From Rolling Stone article.

"A rep for Allman has confirmed that a new album, the Don Was–produced Southern Blood, will be released in September."

Very sad ... even though you could see he was struggling with his health at Byron a few years back I felt so privileged just to be there watching him bring his unforgettable music to life.

Thank you to Colin Hay for the clip.
2014 appears to be the last year he toured.
