Yay two more sleeps to my favourite time of the year.......Easter at Bluesfest. Wishing all punters making their way from all parts of the country and all over the world, a safe journey and happy trails. Looking forward to catching up with the usual suspects and meeting some new people. After the mega disappointment of Neil Young's cancellation I am very excited at this years line-up. The headliners are not as important to me this year and I am looking forward to seeing some world class performances on the smaller stages. I would like to thank Peter and his team for their effort in putting on the best fest in the country every Easter for our enjoyment.
Best wishes to all for a great fest especially those coming for the first time. Looking forward to many repeat acts and some classic talent. Best wishes to all for a great festival. Wishing all only a peaceful and joyous festive experience.

I'm arriving tomorrow morning and cannot wait.

What a first day! It's like Peter looked into my record collection!

We've got -

Andrew Bird

Mavis Staples

Miles Electric Band

Courtney Barnett

Patti Smith

That's a rare and eclectic set of artists, a dream result for me and I'm pretty sure we are all about to enjoy one of a few festivals in the world where you'll see that sort of quality and diversity all in one place.

And it goes on like that for 5 days.

Well done again Peter Noble.

And, I'm a supporter of the RFiD wristband, although I'm not necessarily a supporter of the range of beers I can buy with it.

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion man...

The beauty of Bluesfest is the variety, something for everyone. Finishing off the first day with the California Honeydrops in to St Paul and Broken Bones.

Leaving tomorrow morning and hopefully there to see Blind Boy Paxton.

Have a safe trip everyone, live long and prosper.

I have been out there today and the site is very good condition.

I walked around a fair bit and there were no dramas with dampness anywhere, inside main gate was good, as was near Jambalaya.

And walking around towards the main stages.

So all should be good

We got in today after a hot plane flight.
Myself & the two Keiths are the only occupants of the 22 bed hostel.
8 cancelled bookings due to perceived issued following flooding, but it appears that this was premature.
The water level rose 5 feet in 7 minutes.
Worst flooding in the history of the town.
We were sitting in the TV Room talking music and two small frogs walked along the floor.
Sydney Keith said they were not Cane Toads & showed us a picture on one on his phone .
But Tassie came back & said that they were in fact Cane Toads.
Our first sightings.
And there were two nice big rectangular rocks with flat sides that could have squashed them.
But we let them walk out the door.

"An artist never really chooses when and where they will play.It is for promoters to make offers. It comes down as to whether tours are financially viable." Quote John Mayall.

a splash of Dettol does the trick.

I don't want to hang up my rock n roll shoes
I get a good time feeling every time I hear those blues.

I arrived at the North car park at 1.40 pm and got a parking spot only about 200 metres from the entrance. Then waited in a queue of hundreds of people which did not move for at least 30 minutes before we even got to the ticket checking and wristband allocation area. Then we had to go through the bag check and scanning the barcode on our wrist bands to get into the grounds. And this was slowed down by another queue from the camping area joining ours. Only got to Juke Joint in time for Blind Boy's last three songs but they made it worth the effort!!
