It's been a shocker of a year for deaths of some of the best.

They got the cocaine, oxycontin, mushrooms, marijuana
Vodka, plastic pop-off, twist one off
Yesterday I smoked, today I don't
Yeah, yeah, yeah

All of the legends are now in their 70's....the trend will continue over the next few years regrettably.

R.I.P. Leon. You were unique!

Sad news again RIP

Thanks for the music.

This is going to become a common thing.

My Mother now says, when I tell of her of the passing of people of similar age or younger than her.

"Well we are all starting to line up now"

Sad but true

My greatest regret over the past 20 years + attending Bluesfest is that I was unable to see Leon on the extra Tuesday that was added on when he played.

I did see him at Randwick and also a smaller theatre in Sydney.

What a wonderful, completely unique and talented musician.

Happy trails Leon

Indeed Marie!

I can recall that Randwick gig as if it were yesterday...the heat was horrific...lots of folk drenching themselves under taps....

and then the wonder of that man and his music...2 pianos..one for Leon and the other for the Rev Patrick Henderson (I think)

His music touched souls...keyboards adored him!!!

If you get a chance pop over to YouTube..there's a 14.26 minute clip of his induction into The Rock and Roll Hall of fame....precious and tender and full-to-the-brim with his life and music....such a dear soul...rest well Leon and a zillion thanks for the songs....X

that induction clip was certainly a surprise to me...to see just how many artists music he played on.

I don't want to hang up my rock n roll shoes
I get a good time feeling every time I hear those blues.

Fantastic of Bluesfest to feature Leon live on stage.
Here he is with the sublime Glen Campbell.

"An artist never really chooses when and where they will play.It is for promoters to make offers. It comes down as to whether tours are financially viable." Quote John Mayall.
