Sure maybe the full lineup is great but there is a massive hole on the main stage Friday night now that Neil cancelled.
Bluesfest have already offered Friday ticket holders the option for a refund but have asked them to wait until they see the replacement as it may change their minds.
So I'm thinking they are going to pull something great out of the hat.
For me I'd love to see a legendary act with a long back catalogue to fill the space.
Peter Gabriel, Sting or Dolly Parton would be ideal.

There are 27 acts listed on that day minus Neil Young, and only 12 hours to fill in.
The problem is who not to see,not who to see.
Assuming more than narrow musical tastes.
It is nearly Xmas so it is a narrow window for securing "legendary" acts performing outside shows to make it financially viable,as outside promotors may need to be involved.

Bluesfest chose to make that window narrower by waiting 2 weeks to make an announcement after the promoter had cancelled the rest of the tour.

Might be better to allow a few refunds [and if people buy a one day ticket and then want a refund due to one artist they have no real interest in music].and book a one off act from downunder, for a one off show.

Money talks very loudly and we can assume Bluesfest has capacity to spend a fair bit now that Neil Young is not coming.
They are are saying they looking for a big name so we can only wait and see who it is.

One would assume that the price negotiated by Bluesfest with N Y would be diluted based on the fact that N Y was to have played other gigs.
A full tour downunder could have seen up to nine other gigs apart from Bluesfest.
Which assists in spreading costs.
Money talks, but whether it can talk sufficiently to get another downunder tour by a major artist, set up for time frames which are only four months out,and for which Bluesfest is only one of those sets,is quite a different concept.

Would have been a drawcard for some,in 1973.
Robin Trower left in 1971.
He would now be a bigger drawcard.

The problem is who not to see, not who to see.
I think that is the most common sensical comment that's been made on this topic.
I loved Neil Young on his last tour. I'm sad he won't be there.
But I'm going to struggle to see everyone i want to see.
There is an abundance at this festival beyond belief.

When they go low-we go high.

Book the legendary Liverpool band with lots of great songs and an atmospheric sound.

I think this is the greatest disappointment for me in the history of bf artist cancellations. Never before have I so eagerly anticipated an artist appearing at bf like NY. Que Sera. I also believe next years lineup is great and the 3 hour slot could go to 2-3 other bands with the considerable now left over budget. Other wise the Mule are the most obvious replacement. Eitherway can't wait.

Ok how about this for a cost effective solution.
Book Mojo Webb & Dallas Frasca & Kate Miller-Heidke.

50 % of the punters don't like Dylan singing Dylan
So why not bring back someone who sung Dylan a long time ago.
And can tell some great stories.

Aside from Roger McGuinn, how about Chris Hillman whose new album is likely to get a bit of a push considering it's being produced by Tom Petty?

True confessions.
My interest in both Chris Hillman & Tom Petty is zero.

They are both great, but I would prefer Tom Petty over Neil Young.
And Mr Setzler or Cousin Harley or even The Paladins over both of them.

Just personal taste I guess,

The email does not mention a date for the announcement. It only mentions the date that they return to the office.

One of the admin commented on a Facebook post just before Christmas saying that the announcement would be sometime this week.
