Yeah I was just assuming the announcement was coming today, didn't read the post correctly.
But it will be sometime this week hopefully...

Tomorrow is the 9th January. I wonder if there will be any new announcements? Think

I am pleased to advise that our search to replace Neil Young is bearing fruit and we look forward to making an artist announcement soon after we return from our annual vacation on the week of January 9.

The email does not mention a date for the announcement. It only mentions the date that they return to the office.

One of the admin commented on a Facebook post just before Christmas saying that the announcement would be sometime this week.

So not today then but hopefully this week ..

People say to me: "gertyson0000 you really care about this festival and only want whats best for the wider bluesfest community when it comes to making this a success"

This is why I'm shocked these festival organizers had time off over Xmas and stretched it well in almost mid Jan. If I was in charge I wouldnt have slept and worked straight through to fill that gap and to make sure that the punters here on the forum (who have been described as the lifeblood of the festival) were kept informed with ideas/suggestions/possibilities and non runners.

When Peter wants to hand the reigns over let it be known that my hand is up and i am ready and able to take the festival to the next level.

I actually feel sorry for the team at Bluesfest. Here they are, the announcement of the decade - "Neil Young to Appear". By the sounds of it they do everything right both legally & ethically and then they hang their hat on the announcement they have every right to be so proud of and then out of the blue - Neil decides he wants to have a holiday instead. This is 4/5 months out from the festival. Not only does Bluesfest end up with egg on their face, they then have to scratch around for a replacement of a similar calibre. How many of the world's leading performers (the ones at Neil Young's level) would not have the next several months of their schedule booked up and sorted out so that they can just jump on a plane and come to Australia for a week at short notice ? And then to add insult to injury Bluesfest gets put down by many for failing to produce the ultimate line up. Seems to me they're between a rock and a hard place. Also seems to me that the one who should get the flack is Neil Young (sorry to all those out there who think he can do no wrong).

I purchased my tickets before the first announcement because I already knew at that stage, without the slightest shadow of a doubt, that I'm going to get 5 days of listening bliss so in a way I couldn't care less who else will be announced. I find the line up is already excellent and with whoever they announce from this point on it's only going to get better. But I’m glad everyone is not the same as me because if full attendance was a lay down misere for the festival they wouldn’t put as much energy as they do into selecting such a brilliant array of musicians. So to all you moaners and groaners out there, just keep up the good work.

Ah, the rigours of touring !!!!

To be very honest and fair, i think bluesfest do an incredible job.
I also buy an early bird ticket because it represents unbeatable value for money.
I think there would be an unenviable level of stress coordinating something like this every year.
Despite occasional spats,i appreciate everything they do

In case you missed it .. I was just on the Pearl Jam forum and according to rumours Pearl Jam will be replacing Neil Young for Bluesfest 2017.

They will playing Neil Young's 1995 Mirror Ball album in it's entirety with Eddie replacing Neil on vocals, of course.

The Mirror Ball album featured members of Pearl Jam. I Got ID was originally recorded on that album but was later released separately.

Eddie is going to make his Uncle Neil so proud!

John butler has described grunge singers as people who sing through their chins.
Nothing I've seen dispels this astute observation for me.

Vedder looks great in that photo. And Pearl Jam aren't "grunge" anymore although I still love grunge.

I remember seeing them about 20yrs ago.
I admit to enjoying the show.
Haven't seen them since.
I did see Eddie sing with Bruce in Melbourne.
Sadly, both aren't great singers.

If you ever got a chance to hear Vedder sing solo, you would soon change your mind.

That is a great idea.
But we need to augment it with the proviso that any poster who ever talks about Eddie Vedder is banned.

Just for the record Eileen.
Regarding Rangers call for a Vedder ban.
My view is that if you can put up with our crap, we can put up with yours.

It's been fun on here lately. The BF moderator must be on holidays
