If we can have Tom Jones we can have Elton John, Rod Stewart and Eric Clapton

Rod Stewart & Elton John are stadium acts.
Not Bluesfest tent type acts.
No point forking out megabucks when the MOR crowd have had ample opportunities to see them at stadiums in recent years.
Not that I am anti Rod the Mod.
E C has toured downunder regularly in the past.
Plenty of chances to catch him.
Last tour was not stadium size venues.
Tom Jones is also not a stadium size act.
E C is the only fiscally realistic choice of the three you have listed.

"An artist never really chooses when and where they will play.It is for promoters to make offers. It comes down as to whether tours are financially viable." Quote John Mayall.

I thought the topic of this discussion was a wish list. I didn't see LECTURE mentioned in the heading. I thought the whole point of the wish list was to mention people one would like to see at BF. It does not necessarily mean that you would expect to see them there. I would add Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefers to my wish list but would not expect to see them at the festival. But then again one never knows who would turn up. Never thought I would see the 2 acts who closed Mojo on Monday night. One never knows, does one.

Thanks for the list.
I have been advised to advise that Van Morrison and Tom Waits are not going to be coming to Australia for reasons previously advised.
They won't agree to travel this far.
Pretty much ditto for Tom Petty

Thanks

Rexrose, regarding the lecture it's just the L.R. way, in the Sniffer Dog thread you would think if you didn't find the topic of interest you would not revisit, not the Ranger no sooner had a grumpy Moderator ask if it should continue or be wiped Ranger was there having read it calling for its removal.

On Elton John he has spent a lot of time in Oz and has a Blues origin and one never knows

Oh yes Tom Waites

Heading out for the East Coast / Lord knows I've paid some dues gettin' through, / Tangled up in blues.

All of our musical heroes are getting old. Would have loved to see Van Morrison live too. Eh?
