One can only hope that it is R&B of the original definition?

IE A proper Rhythm and Blues act. That would incorporate the feel of the Louis Jordans. B B Kings, Marvin Gaye. Otis Redding etc.

Not what the marketers now term, contemporary R&B.

I have witnessed many of these abominations.

With stacks of backing singers and unwanted electronic involved, when it has been impossible to tell if the singer is singing, most of the time.

Some people can draw a long line, when trying to display particular musical lineage, or influence.

We await the announcement with interest.

And I have no wish to be negative, I must add, and am confident, that we will all be happy in the morning.

Woah!
Just had a look, pretty contemporary and some good stuff in there, Mojo Juju my highlight of this announce. Along with D'Angelo!
And a few others.

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion man...

Where did you see this man?

When you're lost in the rain in Juarez
And it's Eastertime too
And your gravity fails
And negativity don't pull you through
Don't put on any airs
When you're down on Rue Morgue Avenue
They got some hungry women there
And they really make a mess outta you.

Cant really say timcook123, let's just say I have someone on the inside.

It's a good announcement, cold war kids, mike love, kim churchill, steve smyth, many more.
Only got to see it briefly and am trying to remember what was there.

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion man...

Who's the legend? RnB? Is it R Kelly?

Dear Skot,

D'Angelo - that would be epic. the bloke is the highest regarded R&B artist alive today - hopefully a Sat night slot!.

As for americana theres still the chance that this living legend could team up with Tom Jones?

They could have played it safe and gone with Lionel - instead we get dangelo (ballsy move) - read any of his reviews from the last time he played in Australia - can't wait. Bloody brilliant.

Now all we need to do is sort out the drink issue which is an easy fix and give the police dogs a weekend off - bring them on a road trip to Dapto to see there mates compete in sport.

So glad Harts is on the bill.

The young fella is a genius.

I can feel the spirit of Hendrix coming on.

Black Messiah has been played a lot in my house this year. Even my two year olds jiggle and boogie when it comes on. I think his inclusion is going to be one of the highlights.

Trumpet bells ringing
Bass drum is swinging
As the trombone groans
And the big horn moans

con brio, kaleo & the bros. landreth are the highlights for me from this announcement & I had not heard of any of these prior to the announcement but the material I have heard since is amazing stuff. d'angelo & cold war kids along with harts & kim Churchill will be great shows as well. once again a great announcement from the bluesfest team. now if we could just get walter trout on the next announcement & I will be done.
