I had planned to get on here and fire up the usual "when is the next announcement" talk, glad it's been done already, and by a mod.

Do we believe the hype?!

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion man...

the ecard which informed me of the upcoming announcement mentions one of the artists is a legend... my money is on neil young to join lukas nelson & promise of the real to play the Monsanto years. I have been putting this out there for a couple months now so hopefully this comes good.

Paul McCartney? A bigger draw-card to bring the non Bluesfest crowd to Bluesfest compared to Neil who has toured Oz a couple of times in recent years

Outspoken in the right areas.Perfect for Bluesfest.

I love Neil Young, but I don't know if I would describe him as a "genius"….

Also "world first", "huge surprise" and "debut" don't seem to fit Neil Young as I have seen him tour Australia twice over the last few years.

The only 2 artists I can think of that deserve such "bigging up" would be Kate Bush or David Bowie.

I'd enjoy Young, can't imagine Bowie turning up but as a long shot what about Phil Colins using Byron to launch a come back? Read...

I guess "genius" is a relative term but I wouldn't describe Phil Collins as a musical genius...

You have got as much chance of seeing Bowie tour Au than you have of Willie Nelson or Van Morrison.
Zero.
There is a higher chance of Tom Waits than either three.
Zero plus half a point.
Bowie when I saw him in 1978 was brilliant art rock.
Bowie when I saw him in 2004 was dull not art rock.
By comparison Bryan Ferry in 2004 was still brilliant art rock.

Would be great to see Neil Young. But thinking into the future the resultant clash would, for me at least, be massive. I just know that he'd be playing at the same time as someone else I'd like to/have to see. And while I know this is part and parcel of the bluesfest experience, at the top end of performers there are not that many that I have already ruled out. First world problems I know.

With such a stellar line-up it would be great if some form of early stage line-up and times could be issued. You can work out some of them, based on prior experience, but there's always that sense of the unknown, which is only going to lead to my having sleepless nights. Just a thought.

Rod was here in April 2015 so two years in a row is highly unlikely.
But can't see the problem with Rod.
He has a huge amount of history going way back.

I've been liking Bluesfest just dropping names. The hype up the next announcement has a bad history of being disappointing. Already have my ticket, already happy with the line up, so just patiently waiting.

(Attempt at humour alert.......) At least we know it can't be jj or bh.
