What is it with have the same artists return again and again?

I realise there are only so many artists touring but perhaps look further afield.

What is it?
Favouritism
Easy
...........

Any thoughts?

I have been to 13 bluesfests, and there are already about 15 artists in the first two announcements combined that I have not seen before at the festival and am very keen to see, and some of those, I have never seen and am very keen to see!
If like me, you go pretty much every year, or second year, you are going to see some repeats, they're not coming back and being put on the bill in multiple years for any reason other than they're good and people want to see them.
I am very excited already about next year's event.

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion man...

You have made but nine posts so clearly have not assimilated the history of the forum.
My advice to you is not to continue along this thought pattern.
It will achieve nothing for you or for the already decreased membership of this forum.
Think half a glass full instead of half a glass empty.
My positive thought is that I am grateful for having had the opportunity to enjoy three stunning Wilco sets at Bluesfest.
So I give thanks for the return of the Tweedys.

Oh, so now I know why this isn't discussed.
Thanks for the tip.
I will continue to enjoy the blues but maybe not the forum.
My glass is full of BLUESfest.
Cheers

I see nothing wrong with people putting forward matters for discussion.

There are good acts coming that I have seen before, and there are many others that I am hoping will be added to the next round, that have never graced our shores.

If that is your opinion,I suggest that you start the commentary, and see where it leads you.
I am not prepared to be so bold.

Agreed should be more variety - some of the acts from Defcon 1 this weekend from sydney would have been great.

It's like the kid at Xmas complaining about his presents.. Most returning artists release new albums, experiment with new sounds etc - people like watching acts evolve, some people like watching acts stay exactly as they are. The wailers playing a different album each night is the highlight of the announcement for me (a returning artist doing something completely different).

Now had the post been same flawed approach to policing again and again then it might have garnered some positive discussion.

Flawless announcement 10/10.

2016 will be my 17th Bluesfest and this is a jaw dropping announcement..............such a great lineup........wont happen but would be willing to see them all.
Outside of the headliners (which I now include Jason Isbell in as this is an artist that is really at the top of his game) loving the idea of seeing Tweedy Live, didn't realize they were a touring band so that is exciting, Sturgill Simpson and of course , BLACKBERRY SMOKE...............Wow..........I have three Albums, one is live at the 2012 Peach Music Festival (Thanks Rick!!) which shows them as a brilliant live band..........can't want for this.

Thanks for TWO such a sensational announcements............Just playing The Word's latest Album as I write this............they are going to be a must see!!!!

I have been every year since 1998. Yes.last century, and I would rate the two announcements as the best up till this stage in that time. Very excited about the Decemberests. Keep up the good work.

I agree, these are excellent announcements...

How could anyone complain about Bonamassa or Tendeschi Trucks or Robert Randolph returning.
You could bring those artists every year as far as I'm concerned...

Robert Randolph is in supergroup the Word. I have been to about 20 fests and this is the best start ever. The Decembrists, Tom Jones, Noel Gallagher, Vintage Trouble et al are all sensational first timers at BF. Thanks Peter for the great work and what is looming to be one of the best in history. Can't wait.

A truly epic line up.
Am quite baffled how some malcontents manage to turn Bluesfest into Whingefest.
Really stoked to be seeing Nahko again! Would be more than happy if he came every year.
Thank you Bluesfest crew, an outstanding effort!

At times I've thought the same in regarding repeat artists but if you look a little deeper more often than not you can always find something new at bluesfest.
Checkout some of the smaller tents & buskers getting round the site.
Sometimes the lesser known artists in those small tents are equal if not better than the big names for me.

When it comes to blues artists I think BF still offer a lot.
BF has gotten bigger with more days & more tents over the years so they have expanded musically as well.
I like the verity on offer.
