Agreed. Thanks to the Bluesfest team for this first announcement. For me, this is a great mix of familiar names and an interesting bunch of new names to discover. Roll on Easter 2016!

I was extremely pleased with this first artist announcement for 2016 & as was stated above the ticket I picked up at the festival this year for 2016 has already paid for itself. the main highlights on this announcement for me are songhoy blues who are quickly becoming my favourite African band, the word who have a killer new album which I have had on my player for a few days now & st. paul & the broken bones who I think are one of the best new bands. obviously I love joe & ttb & I am excited for city & colour. all in all a great first announcement.

oh & I would not be surprised if we see neil young on a future 2016 announcement, given the fact that lukas nelson & promise of the real are neil young's backing band on the Monsanto years album tour so keep an eye out for that one.

My Canadian Facebook friend is always going on about how wonderful City and Colour/Dallas Green is. I might just have to check him out. :)

Wow, what an announcement. Can't believe we are going to see The Word!!! Too Cool............their 2001 album is on at the moment in celebration!!!

Funny thing...........was listening to Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams version of Trimmed and Burning a few days back and it reminded me about The Word version and then they are announced..........spooky!

Javina Magness and Rhiannon Giddens are both must sees..........have several Javina CDs and only bought Rhiannon a few days back.
Bonamassa, TTB and The National will be great.....seen Shakey Graves..........well worth a visit.

Well done.............sensational first announcement. This should get a few more across the ditch!

thanks Bluesfest for such a wonderful 1st lineup

It's so cold where I am (housebound) so for the first time I have actually watched/listened to all the artists links.

I want to see them all......

Shakey Graves - reminded me of the first time Xavier Rudd played at Bluesfest - mesmorising
The Selection - will be up the front for some jumpin dancing
SonghoyBlues - hypnotic - just had to watch the clip again
Cat Empire - wish I was there at that live gig....
Javina Magness - beautiful harmonies
TTB - always great - fantastic closeup visuals of the musicians
The Word - great sound but I did get a bit queasy watching the clip
Rhiannon Giddens - cover one of my favourite songs ever - did a really great job
Joe B The National UB40 Lukas Nelson +

thank god for the cold weather....

paddle faster I hear banjo music .................

The Bluesfest Team have put a lot of thought into this first announcement, with a view to putting something in there that will please every punter, designed to attract an early commitment to attend.

"An artist never really chooses when and where they will play.It is for promoters to make offers. It comes down as to whether tours are financially viable." Quote John Mayall.

A pleasantly surprising first announcement. Didn't expect to see so many first timers at BF, as well as some high quality returns. City and Colour, The Word, TTB, Joe b, just fantastic.

Trumpet bells ringing
Bass drum is swinging
As the trombone groans
And the big horn moans

This is a great first announcement! And I am rapt to see Songhoy Blues on the bill - thanks Peter for your support of Malian music (and especially new Malian music).

I agree. Robert Randolph is the show I've enjoyed most at Bluesfest. I purchased my tickets yesterday so now I can get excited with the announcements. Really looking forward to Joe Bonamassa. Overall it was a great announcement but then again I don't think I've ever been dissapointed with a Bluesfest announcement.
