Just watched C.B.G.B. it's about the birth of American Punk , panned by the critics but I think it is a classic.
Club was to be Country- Blue Grass-Blues but got waylaid
Great history
Alan Rickman's best
What is wrong with the critics

MUSCLE SHOALS
On SBS On Demand and TBox Catch Up -SBS

Simply engrossing
Quote:
A compelling documentary that celebrates Rick Hall, the founder of FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, and the signature sound he developed in songs such as 'I'll Take You There', 'Brown Sugar', and 'When a Man Loves a Woman'. Overcoming crushing poverty and staggering tragedies, he brought black and white musicians together to create music that would last for generations.

Did anyone watch the ABC show on the Albert Music Company last night.
I had no idea everyone was so closely related to each other.
Its like a Ballsy Aussie version of Sun Records.

Certainly did bambambam, brought back some memories.
Discovered it by accident, will be watching next week. Stevie certainly stole the show at the Opera House

Always make time to watch the Last Waltz, god I love the Band.

Freebird, my brother had it on video years ago, I think it was partly shot in England. Lynryd Skynyrd

Raury - soulful, melancholic and some jingle jangle. Loving this guy right now.
http://youtu.be/adU_Jwy6Ans

Natalie Prass - so dusty Springfield found her millennial reincarnation.

D'Angelo and the Vanguard - amazing return to the scene. This set from afropunk fest has The Roots as his backing band.

Trumpet bells ringing
Bass drum is swinging
As the trombone groans
And the big horn moans

Last year the ABC had a couple of great documentaries
The Sunnyboy about Jeremy Oxley & his struggle with mental illness.
And the Angels "No Way Get F*#ked, F*#k Off!" is a fly-on-the-wall account of an iconic Australian band's uneasy reconciliation.

They got the cocaine, oxycontin, mushrooms, marijuana
Vodka, plastic pop-off, twist one off
