Now beginning the 3rd year of its highly succesful and popular “Palmwoods Got The Blues” series, the Palmwoods hotel is readying itself for the Christmas rush with another humongous helping of bad to the bone blues on Sat, November 15.

Opening the evening will be young Australian blues and roots giant Tom Richardson. Since winning consecutive Australian busking championships in 2004 and 2005, Tom has played numerous festivals and his infectious personality and onstage presence, furious, bluesy slide guitar, powerful deep voice and foot stomping rhythms have him seen him named the 2007 Apollo Bay and the 2008 Maton Guitars “Young Performer Of The Year” Tom is most definitely the Real Deal!

“Shakey” Shaun Bindley is better known these days as the ideas man behind the Palmwoods blues lineup and performs only rarely but the return to Australia of former guitar player Chris Bailey offered the perfect opportunity to reform Shakey Shauns Intemperate Few. The band rocked houses around Se Qld in the late 90’s with residencies at the Bombshelter bar and Pineapple hotel, much talked about gigs at The Healer and Brisbane Blues festival and a hard swinging attitude reminiscent of the late Hollywood Fats and Ronnie Earl. With original drummer Greg Baikaloff being joined by JB Lewis (Mojo Webb) on bass, The Intemperate Few will be dusting off the scrap books and firing up some old favourites with an energy and no holds barred attitude that will not fail to have blues fans hollering for more.

Geoff Achison’s show at Palmwoods will positively blow people’s minds. The man’s talent is mindboggling. As a vocalist, Geoff possesses a soulful voice that evokes comparisons to Joe Cocker or Paul Weller. Add to this his award winning songwriting skills and you have the whole package. He has been a musical force on three continents and won honors on all of them. Twenty years of touring and playing with scores of artists such as Tommy Emmanuel, ‘Dutch’ Tilders, Phil Manning, Jeff Lang, Jorma Kaukonen & Hot Tuna, John Mayall, John Mayer, Levon Helm of ‘The Band’, Hubert Sumlin and Clarence ‘Gatemouth’ Brown to name a few, have challenged him to play as passionately and skillfully as they do.

Growing up in rural Australia, Geoff developed a passion for blues and taught himself to play on his mother’s beat up acoustic guitar. In his early 20’s he found employment as lead guitarist with Melbourne’s top blues band ‘Dutch Tilders &The Blues Club’.
Geoff departed in 1995 to pursue his own musical ideas forming the first incarnation of his own band, The Souldiggers and releasing the first of many CD’s of his own blues/funk flavoured material.

Geoff started his worldwide explorations back in 1995 with his first trip to the US. He was representing Melbourne at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN. The question was could he succeed playing his distinctly Australian version of funky blues/rock in the land where it all began? That was answered when Geoff won the coveted ‘Albert King Award’ and went on to score an endorsement deal with Gibson Guitars USA.

Moving to London in 1997 Geoff established a UK following eventually recording a live album with a British version of the band. He returns regularly playing festivals, clubs, pubs and theatres winning more fans to his cause with each visit. His tours have extended throughout Australia, the UK and USA playing either his immensely popular Solo Acoustic shows or hiring the best musicians available to form The Souldiggers as he goes.

Returning to Australia after two years living and touring in the US, Geoff’s most recent release “Acho Solo” features his acclaimed solo acoustic work and he’ll be performing solo and with the Souldiggers at Palmwoods for a night not to be missed

“…possibly one of the most gifted artists to arrive on the scene …”

Great night at The Step Inn in Brisbane last night

Mojo Webb, The Hipshooters and The Intemperate Few

A full house going nuts in some intense Qld humidity. Intemperate Few guitarist Chris Bailey hasn't lost anything in his years playing rock & roll in Taiwan and was on fire.

Should be a cracker on sat with Tom Richardson and Geoff Achison the sat

Tom is a real star on the rise and of course, Geoff Achison's talent is of course, quite mindboggling!
