any ideas?? anyone in the know? will it be announced or will it be a surprise?

And negativity don't pull you through
Don't put on any airs

And they really make a mess outta you.

A lot of speculation but does anyone have facts? Admin can you give us a clue as to when we may find out

This is the speculation people. JBT is the definite favorite....he was down to headline the West Coast Festival...he has a gap in his schedule before heading OS and he is a good friend of the Bluesfest family. He'll be first asked. Chisel will be asked because they are up and about with no firm commitments beyond last weeks Clipsal 500. They will be match hardened and ripe to play. And Rod Stewart because he has a clearly visible gap between his Sydney gig and his Hunter Valley gig. They will be the first three asked.

If this speculation is correct, it makes it much easier to choose who to see Thursday night, I originally struggled, but now there's no Lenny and no viable alternative on that stage, problem sorted.

This is not a negative post, I have stated many times the main stage acts often draw the big crowds and that leaves me with the space to see good music in the other tents!

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion man...

Peoples expectations seem to be pretty low. Imagine if Bluesfest surprised everyone with a huge act haha
I just wanted someone who is upbeat and fun to end the first night on. no solo acoustic or mellow roots music.

In my opinion, the best first night acts in past say 10 years, have been Jools Holland and ZZ Top.

And the Tedeschi trucks with full band on Thursday night two years ago belted the festival off to a cracking start!

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion man...

Can't go wrong with a 15 minute rendition of Midnight In Harlem

I'm taking a stab in the dark here,
Fleetwood Mac have a tiny break in their schedule,
They could jump a plane, play, back on the plane.
Huge ask but who knows.

ZZ Top is not my thing but agree re Jools in 2010.
What made it was Ruby Turner being given so much vocal work...a lot more than her 1st appearance at Bluesfest.
And Louise Marshall also excellent.

And on that same night also in Crossroads there was the simply mindblowing Brian Auger's Oblivion Express.
Preceeded by Imelda May & The Darrell Higham Band.
And that same night also in the same tent we had Dr John & The Lower 911

Lil Band O'Gold and Tribali played in Jambalaya on opening night in 2010.

Chris Isaak in 2013 and Amadou & Mariam in 2006 with the mesmerising West African drummer were just incredible opening night acts..

And there is much more if I pick up the back mags

"An artist never really chooses when and where they will play.It is for promoters to make offers. It comes down as to whether tours are financially viable." Quote John Mayall.

Scottty did you see Johnny in bundy and is it true he only played 6/7 songs? Review?

As for Mastadon? They are about as much chance as their mates Slipnot..... (Ice anyone?)
