Mahalia Barnes Announces Shows With US Guitar Icon Joe Bonamassa

http://themusic.com.au/news/all/2015/01/15/mahalia-barnes-announces-shows-with-us-guitar-icon-joe-bonamassa/

Soulful Australian singer Mahalia Barnes has announced two very special shows with American blues and rock legend Joe Bonamassa.

Barnes and her band The Soul Mates will be joined by the guitar maestro in Sydney at the Factory Theatre and Melbourne's The Prince Bandroom this February. The Barnes/Bonamassa combo will bring to life Ooh Yea — The Betty Davis Songbook, the 12-track covers album that the artists will be releasing next month.

Fans can now download one of the tracks off the compilation, Steppin' In Her I. Miller Shoes now for a taste of what to expect when the record drops 24 Feb. Get it here!

Joining Barnes, The Soul Mates and Bonamassa in support at the shows will be The Lachy Doley Group.

you had me so excited with this post... then i read there was no brisbane only sydney & melbourne... sadly i can only travel to brisbane due to circumstances of mine so once again miss out on a bonamassa fix, maybe next time once again.

i hope all who attend this one enjoy the show as it seems like it will be pretty good.

Had a listen to a couple of the Mahalia Barnes and Joe Bonamassa songs via his newsletter (including a free download) - very tasty. I notice he's playing in London on the 21/3 and then in Montreal on the 9/4. Perfect little gap for a quick stopover and a couple of shows at Bluesfest. Could sneak a guest spot with Beth Hart at the same time.
Probably won't happen, but it would be nice

Well only 1 show on the Thursday, and not with Beth. But still worth thinking about.

If I was Peter Noble (and I'm sure he's probably doing this) be looking at the likes of Bonnamassa and offering some big coin to do a one off BF exclusive.

I don't want to hang up my rock n roll shoes
I get a good time feeling every time I hear those blues.

Can anyone confirm what band/mode Joe will be in for bluesfest?

My bets on his current band as they are at the end of a quick Europe tour heading for home. Don't be surprised if Mahalia or Jimmy Barnes or even Ian Moss have a cameo. Mossy got on stage with him at the Enmore few years back.

Joe's releasing a new studio album on 25th March which the press release says is his new solo album.
It features 2 drummers, one of which is Anton Fig whilst Michael Rhodes plays bass. Both of them have played
with Joe on recent tours, so will be interesting to see what lineup takes stage. I'm not sure who is playing with him in
Germany & UK in Feb/March prior to his Bluesfest return

wow I just got that on my jbonamassa email list too. The track sounds great, back to a thicker studio sound, and not using the marshalls at all. fender tweeds instead. Always mixing it up Joe. Cant wait for the albumn.

some exciting news for us bonamassa fans as joe will be returning to tour at the end of September through early October playing all five capitals. I loved joe's 2 hour Saturday show at bluesfest so I can't wait to see this legend once again when he plays Brisbane later this year which I will hopefully be front row for. here's the link with the tour announce that I found:

The wife said the trouble with Joe is that every song is so great and has such a fantastic guitar slot that they all sound like they should be a finale.
Other artists should have that problem.

Will be attending the show in Brisbane dates permitting.

Here's a guitar lesson from Joe. Something in it he said about the blues caught my ear:

"use the world's most expensive guitars to play the world's most undervalued music ... that's basically what we do"

I'm happy about this.
He should bring his mate Clapton with him.

Can't be Jethro Tull as the days don't fit.
