Heading to Out On The Weekend this Saturday in Willimastown, Melbourne.
The final 3 hours being Robert Ellis & The Perfect Strangers, Cash Savage & The Last Drinks, and Marlon Williams & The Yarra Benders. So sweet.
Ad to that Josh Hedley, The Cactus Blossoms, All Our Exes Live In Texas, Joe Pug, Lindi Ortega, and Tracy Mcneil; and its a great day of live music.

Have ended up with a spare ticket for Paul Kelly & Charlie Owen at St Stephens Church in Sydney on Friday 18th (face value, $78). Anyone interested?

Ysterday, I ended up with a last-minute ticket to David Bowie: Nothing has changed

http://www.mso.com.au/whats-on/2016-season/david-bowie/

iOTA was amazing. Deb Conway was fantastic.

I was pleased that it didn't feel like a wake. I was afraid that it might have been filled by artists telling stories of what Bowie meant to them. Instead, it was two solid sets of Bowie classics with the MSO bringing depth to the music without over-playing it.

Earlier in the day, I saw The Triplets of Belleville with a live soundtrack. Also worth checking out (if it is touring).

I watched the Triplets of Belleville while on Mesculin Cactus when it was still a legal drug in Japan (banned now)
That was on my 39 Birthday and what a weird night that turned out to be, I just picked the movie up from the local video shop because the cover looked interesting. Then we took that stuff and that movie just magnified everything.

Oh the dumb things I've done. d'oh!

the Americana fest at the morrison hotel was a good afternoon of mostly singer songwriters.
first was paddy McHugh and tommo....great Australian lyrics by talented musos next was the weeping willows duo from Melbourne ,pretty harmonies but not exciting.
hayes carll from Austin texas was great.big voice great lyrics and a great presence
then came the kinkster...kinky friedman...definitely no political correctness with this guy.most of the audience were in shock or fits of laughter for his set.
pretty popular with ex-pat Texans. but shit he was funny.
then eagle and the wolf...another duo from Melbourne caught most of their set but left to catch harry manx at the old museum.
a great musician and I love that 21 string instrument ? he plays.Anxious

paddy McHugh would be great for an early set at bluesfest.

How weird is that.
Not an artist I am familiar with,

There's been a few calls for reggae acts to be announced. Caught Katchafire last night at The Rhythm Hut in Gosford. Good fun show, that got the crowd up and jumping. I don't know if they've played before, but I'd be happy to see them again.

Also caught Claude Hay in his new band. New album is out; tight as usual. It's time for Claude to come back.

Went a long to Glen Hansard at QPAC last night, wow wee, what a night, he and his band were fantastic.
What a storyteller, right from the start he had us mesmerised. Will not miss a chance to see him a gain and again.

Will I never know silence without mental violence?

Last Friday night I saw a great Sydney band at The Harmonie German Club in Canberra called 'Chasin' The Train'. A mixture of blues, country, funk, soul and New Orleans grooves. Very similar to the American 'Honey Island Swamp Band' which would be perfect for Bluesfest.

Next Friday night playing is bluesman Chris Cain.

Every Friday night there is a good band playing, so if you live here or are visiting come along. It's very friendly and a good vibe.
