The Pretenders were fantastic at The Forum in Melbourne last Friday. Chrissie Hynde was really enjoying herself and she even sang a request! Her version of Hymn to Her was achingly beautiful, but the whole show was just great.

Saw this last night.
The reviewer is correct in stating that it is as close as you will get.
I rarely watched the back up screens, and his comments in that regard are superfluous.
Too much going on on stage with Dantanio, the four dancers & band.
I did not find that the band overpowered the vocals.
Looks like it travels through every couple of years.
Highly recommended.

So if Joe & Band only had 200 people turn up to see them at a Bluesfest set, would they complain that the crowd was too small.

So on that basis,we should have some more Au bands filling up the empty spots at Bluesfest.
Get some in from the Qld Gold Coast area so travel costs will be minimised.

Pathfinder I do not recall you as one of the ten posters who was suspended during that diffficult period when that voice of reason ScottM finished:" after having ten good years."
Not being on the board as often as usual in recent weeks,I have missed all of the controversial posts.
But I am thinking of some of the regular Au acts we used to have.

Joe would not complain as long as he got paid.

Gus is an old mate of mine and is a hell of a player.

He can play lots of styles, as some of his musical influences came from his late father, which is why he loves Buddy Rich, amongst others.

He is also a very smart and funny guy. As are most of his fellow band members in the Farnham Band/ Chong Lim Orchestra

A while back I said to him when he was playing with Kylie.

"How can you handle playing some of that stuff"

And he said. "Well I have been playing 2 strong hearts for many years"

Grace Jones on Wednesday in Adelaide, can't wait!

I heard her set was cut short at Sydney City Limits Festival because she was late to the stage, but she should have closed a stage not been put on in the middle at 7pm.

Hi All

I am going to see YolanDa Brown. She's a great saxaphone player like jazz riffin' on reggae or "posh reggae" as she fondly refers to. Am seeing her in Canberra om March 8. See http://www.yolandabrown.co.uk/profiles/blogs/australia-tour-march-2018-yolanda-brown

Will get me and my sister, valerie in the groove for The Strides and The Wailers.

Hey enjoy !

Their latest album is even better than their usual high standard, IMO.
Harkens back stylistically a bit more to their late 80’s/early 90’s era, when Vika & Linda were still in the band full-time.
