Sounds like the negotiations for this year have fallen through.

This could be for any number of reasons,

Time restraints, not enough rehearsals, illness, scheduling conflicts.

I know we will get them eventually and I know they love this festival but I'm disappointed that we didn't get them this year.
Anyway, as I get older the years between bluesfest are flying by, so waiting an extra year at this time in my life is no big deal.

Another possibility is that "The Boss" really is coming and that being the case, maybe they thought it best to put the Oils on hold.

Not that I believe all these rumours but here's hoping.

Unlikely that it's the latter as they commenced rehearsals late last year.

Below taken from a Midnight Oil Facebook group.

BREAKING: The Midnight Oil office has confirmed the tour launch/press conference will be streamed in its entirety live via Facebook and then will be viewable on Facebook immediately afterwards.
Time is most likely to be 08:30am (TBC) Friday 17th February Sydney time so check your time conversions everyone outside of Sydney.

Still room to announce a Bluesfest show to start off the tour with a bang.

Seem's very likely to me, especially since we haven't heard anything.

The catch is that this was recently posted on the previous page of this thread.

bluesfest would be a bit early to start the tour.most oils dates are October-November.

I don't want to hang up my rock n roll shoes
I get a good time feeling every time I hear those blues.

Their first gig is April 25 in South America then a world tour with Australia at the end.
So Bluesfest at Easter would fit.

There's also gonna be at least one warm-up gig in Sydney.

A band which clearly has a large fan club.

I like the fact that the band is making an attempt to stop scalping by not allowing e-tickets.
Small steps i know.
Encouraging nonetheless.

"I want them (Midnight Oil) at Bluesfest, I really do. I've been talking to them for years about it… I'm sure we’ll talk about next year, we don't have much room left [for this year]." Noble

Not enough room? What the?
