I would like to congratulate BF on announcing a great list of additions to the bill without a month of 'announcement pending' announcements. I look forward to the next announcement being just as strong and just as sudden.

Dave and Phil Alvin are the names the jump out at me there; I'm pretty excited by that.

This Franti mini-fest is an interesting concept - my personal interest in his music has waned over time, but it's a point of difference to offer something like that, whilst still staying true to the spirit of the festival.

I still remember the 2010 Gypsy Kings set as one of the very best I've seen at Bluesfest. I thought they were going to blow the roof off Crossroads that night, and it (criminally) wasn't even full!

The problem with these announcements coming in bite sized pieces is that one can lose track of how the overall bill is coming together. One look at the playing schedule shows that things are really starting to take shape now.

I think a part of Bluesfest just died. Do we really need 4 hours of Michael Franti and Yoga? Surely someone has pulled out?

Agreed.

I have never seen Michael Franti so if there is nothing more interesting in the time schedule,I will be interested to have a look.

I am waiting for the out of left field acts.

very pleased with this announcement which i honestly did not see coming. highlights for me are gypsy kings who were probably the best act i saw at the 2010 festival, rodrigo y gabriella who i missed in 2011, jurassic 5 who i missed earlier this year, jj grey & mofro will be nice to see & the music maker show will be good to see again. it should be noted if you read through michael franti isn't playing for 4 hours... there are also sets by soja & trevor hall in the soulshine show... but you will probably still get about 2 hours of franti.

The gypsy kings set was full to the brim...... With chairs. I remember trying to get in and you couldn't stand outside because it wasn't loud enough. They have fixed the chair issue now so next year will be great.

Still no NATALIE MERCHANT ?

Hope those rumours weren't false and she'll be on the next one.

Perhaps this will mean that BF are going to do something new with their lineup and force some of the "just hear to see the headliners" crowd to get out of bed before 2PM.

I fondly remember some of the early-morning sets. For example, the Chris Wilson-led gospel session or the Fatherhood Project set which featured John Butler convincing a packed tent to sit down and just enjoy the music.

The Gypsy Kings are a sure fire winner.
I too remember seeing them in 2010.
The crowd reaction was unbelievable.
Rodrigo y Gabriella is also a great announcement. Finally some guitarists on the bill.

When they go low-we go high.

Coming along nicely, although Saturday still needs a little work Angel. And without the 5 announcements of announcements to come - nicely done.

All he needs to do is move here for a year - the government and media would push him back over the edge!

I have to confess to being somewhat underwhelmed by this announcement and the previous one. The teasers about both announcements have promised so much more.

Narooma was down 300 patrons on 2013 which reflects the more fragile economic environment.
Which means that survival is an important focus.
