The first announcement for Womadelaide 2015 is astonishing:

Its a difficult one being so close to BF,
I guess Rufus and Charlie wont be attending Bluesfest now.
I'm not very "UP" with world music so I don't know many of the artists.

As well as Charlie and Rufus, the ones who caught my attention were:

Youssou N'dour - legendary Senegalese singer (and one of the most beautiful voices in music of any genre)
Abdullah Ibrahim - South African, a giant of jazz. Right up there with the likes of Sonny Rollins, Wynton Marsalis and Wayne Shorter
Lake Street Dive - a great new band from the US featuring the sublime vocals of Rachael Price
Bombino - from Niger, one of the best and hottest young guitarists on the planet
Neneh Cherry - unique, unclassifiable and hugely influential singer

Others who caught my interest were Balkan Beat Box, Malawi Mouse Boys, Jupiter and Okwess International and the Gloaming. This was the first announcement, with more to come. I have been a tad disappointed with their recent line ups, but this one is at the absolute cutting edge.

That's easily the best Womadelaide lineup I've ever seen.
I'd love to see:
Sinead O'Connor
Neneh Cherry
Buffy Sainte-Marie
Soley
First Aid Kit
& Sharon Van Etten

It is a fantastic line up, we attended 04 and 07.

04 was a great line up included

Youssou N'Dour, Tinariwen, Zalkir Hussain, Oumou Sangare, Abdullah Ibrahim, Gilberto Gill, Souad Massi, Cat Empire, Kila, Eliza Carthy etc.......

http://archive.womadelaide.com.au/2001-2009/archive/2004_site/program/artists.html

we had such a great time we went back in 2007 and it included

Salif Keita, Etran Finatwa, Fat Freddy's Drop, Billy Cobham, Waifs, Audreys, Habib Koite, Gotan Project, Kev Carmody, Asha Bhosle + Kronos Quartet, Femi Kuti, Lila Downs, Lunasa, Mahotella Queens, Mariza, Blue King Brown, Huun-Huur Tu, Augie March....

So many of these artists have been at Bluesfest and would be great those that haven't.

Was only a 2.5 day festival and crowds were a lot smaller than now...

Highly recommended, we may go again this year as the line up in recent years has not been as strong....

Tickets purchased and we're going for the first time! The announcement of Toumani Diabate nailed it. And as a sweetener, Richard Thompson is performing in Adelaide on the Thursday night before the fest starts.

The setting looks amazing with the grassy fields and trees.
Ticket prices are quite reasonable too. $289 for a 3 day ticket is a good deal.

Second best festival in Australia. The setting is actually the very best. Less crowds, great food and unbelievable music.

Listening to Peter Winston Macintosh..."
