The Bluesfest Rockwiz special airs this coming Monday, June 23 at 9.30pm on SBS TV - it repeats the following Saturday on SBS 2

From what we have seen here at Bluesfest it is every bit as good as the 2013 edition.

The following Monday June 30th will be the Rockwiz Bluesfest documentary hosted by the mercurial Henry Wagons on SBS TV - again at 9.30pm.
Henry lurks around backstage, and get's all the insider stuff you always wanted to know about.

So there is going to be 2 weeks of great memories of our 25th birthday celebrations occurring.

Enjoy

Oh and I hear someone called Steve and another person called Michael do great performances on it......wonder who that may be.

Steve Earle & Michael Franti.
I will watch it in due course.

"An artist never really chooses when and where they will play.It is for promoters to make offers. It comes down as to whether tours are financially viable." Quote John Mayall.

This show once again highlights the amazing talent of Vika and Linda Bull

Please can they have their own slot next year!

I agree that they have great talent and have seen them many times over the years in various guises.

But I was suprised by their choice of song for their individual spot, and thought that they could have found

many other ones to perform, that would have showcased their talent in a far better light.

Did anyone else have a Twilight Zone moment when Wayne Swan was waxing lyrical about Gary Clark Jnr?

Trumpet bells ringing
Bass drum is swinging
As the trombone groans
And the big horn moans

I also think we should introduce first gig when commenting on this thread - Dire Straits, Bruce Stadium.

Frank Trainors Jazz Preachers, with my parents as a youngster at our local pub.

Through my teens, we were lucky enough to have a local dance, as it was called every 2 weeks in our Community Centre hall.

And I was lucky enough to see some great acts, for free mainly, as we knew the bouncers.

Daddy Cool, Billy Thorpe, Friends, Carson, Skyhooks, with Steve Williams singing before Graham was the one..Ayers Rock, Renee Geyer. Lobby Loyde And many others, of varying quality.

A young AC/DC with only about 100 people there, played only once, but the others returned.

There were some bands that were regulars like the Red House Roll Band, and more that I cant remember, the Jungle juice has adddled my brain.

The first gig I saved up a bit to go to was. Buffalo, Country Radio, Lindisfarne, Slade and Status Quo at the showgrounds. maybe about 74, cerainly a mixed bunch that day.

Sydney Showground October 1974 (I think)

Kevin Borich Express, Cold Chisel, Santana and Fleetwood Mac, all I remember was Santana played just as the sun set and Carlos' White jump suit shone out like a beacon.
