I totally agree. Better than his last time at Bluesfest a few years ago. I was completely knocked out by the brilliant playing of the trombonist whom I'd never heard of, let alone heard before. She was simply astonishing. She was able to do a lot of the solos which allowed the Dr and the rest of the band to concentrate on laying down those funky grooves. Was a perfect start to Bluesfest for me: Charlie Musslewhite followed by Dr John and then Buddy Guy and all at Crossroads. Well done Bluesfest on that scheduling.

I enjoyed the good Dr cutting loose on lead guitar as well!

Could not agree more, the Dr was on my must see list and he and his band did not disappoint.

This was my disaster for Bluesfest 2014. I was so looking forward to his show and my kids talked me into watching the first half of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros and they were just brilliant to watch and I found it really really hard to leave their show. So I went from "full on Edward" to "laid back Dr" and just couldn't handle the transition so returned to "Full on Edward". I hadn't heard of them before the Bluesfest announcement but I'm so thankful I got talked into seeing their show. But I would have loved to have watched a full Dr John show.

There should be a rule with Bluesfest scheduling that no two "one show only" shows be put on at the same time.
