I recommend you take a brief diversion and go to the Juke Joint to see Valerie June at 4:15...I guarantee you will never see anything quite like her ever again.

Well, she's a hillbilly who rants about her instruments like they are people (for example, her baby banjo), she kind of plays the instruments (I suspect she's far more proficient than she's letting on)... If you've ever heard the Residents, think of them combined with Primus and then crossed with the Beverly Hillbillies, all rolled into one woman who has Ellie May's fashion sensibility. Sorry, but that's about as clear as I can get.

its a tough one,i wasent quite prepared for her, even though i saw her youtube clips.

it was early and her individual sound took a bit of getting used to.if you think kasey chambers is a bit whiney...you aint seen or heard nothing yet!

but ill give her another shot today. yee harrrr!

ps thats my tshirt for today....i went down to the crossroads.

Actually, that was what I thought when I first heard her voice as I was passing the Delta stage...Kasey Chambers on helium! The sole reason I decided to stop and watch.

I stopped and watched Valerie.
Unique was the first word that came to mind.

I loved Val,

I just wish I had got there a bit eariler as I couldn't see her well
and you needed to be up close with her to fully appreciate the show.
Only brought two CD's this year, Her's and Magic Band.

Yep a bit too whiney for me too.

C.W. was excellent as usual just a pity he didn't have time to tell us a few more stories. It would enhance the experience if his band would make a bit of an effort to dress to the style of music they're playing . They always look a bit sloppy to me.
