Disappointing news for those of us who have waited a lifetime and couldn't make it to BF this year. Doubt we will see him back again.

Yep, it is a damn shame, especially with some good reviews on the board for the BF set...

At least the thought of an extended Gov't amule set softens the blow a little

Gregg Allman and his band were a bit to smooth for me, lacked the punch of the Allman brothers Band, it was great to see Mark Quinnones in his line up (and he joined Gov't Mule for an instrumental). Was hoping for a more acoustic bluesier style like his last album. The piano/sax (Jay Collins) made the sound a lot more MOR, (often a criticism of Gregg's earlier solo albums), bur regardless it was great to see part of the Allmans history and a true Legend. Hope to get him back ASAP...

I am so happy that we get a full 2.5 hour set from the Mule, now starting at 8.30...previously they were slotted in for about 1 hour if you allow a 30min changeover. The 90mins at Bluesfest was not enough!!!

BTW the Warren Haynes jam with DMB on Watchtower was one of my greatest concert experiences ever (100's of concerts I have seen over 35 years)...the sort of thing I would normally drool over on You Tube...many thanks Bluesfest.

So the mule played a 2.5 hour set that was blistering. Closed the night with Luther Dickinson duelling Warren on Gonna Send you Back to Georgia.

Still a lot of disappointed Allman Brothers fans. Met one couple who had flown up from Tassie. Hoping the promise made to return will be kept.

I could not attend Bluesfest and not catch the legendary Gregg Allman, regardless of the fact that the Allman Brothers have never been a historic musical interest.
I attended the Saturday set and thoroughly enjoyed it.
No doubt health reasons have led to the cancellation.
