It is a tough call to narrow it down to 15,let alone 10 or 5.
There are at least 30 announced artists I want to see this year.
Generally if I can get 13 pre festival I am happy as there are lots more discoveries to add on.
But this year with the greatest lineup yet,how do you possibly narrow it down to 3.
The secret is that you don't spend too much time on it,it has to be impulsive.

The Magic Band
The Paladins
Suzanne Vega

"An artist never really chooses when and where they will play.It is for promoters to make offers. It comes down as to whether tours are financially viable." Quote John Mayall.

Tough call Bondy, I agree with Ranger

Beth Hart
Govt. Mule
Gary Clarke Jnr.

I might add that over 75% of artists already announced were on my pre-announcement wish lists so I am stoked for a big one.

Agree, 15 is too hard let alone 3!!
Just to show my total optimism I have 21 highlighted to date without seeing what local artists are yet to be announced, but it is my 'must see that I haven't seen live' since I need to narrow it down to three...........

Greg Allman.
Beth Hart.
Valerie June.

Jimmy Cotton would be top of that list but have seen him at Chicago.

way to hard to get it down to 3 a day let alone 3 for the festival.

but for artists I want to see because I may never see again..
greg allman, james cotton ,dr john.

favorite guitarists
robben ford, north Mississippi all stars, jeff beck(will it be Rhonda smith or taj on bass).

not the blues..
paladins,larry graham,elvis Costello.

first time
gary clark jnr,soul rebels,valerie june.

it will all come down to the playing schedule.

and when will we see the festival plan ie where the tents will be?

oh and I forgot govt mule. gotta love warren Haynes.Brick wall

It's getting far too hard to nominate just 3....in fact I don't need Bluesfest to announce anymore artists....my schedule is pretty much full as it is.

But for the sake of this exercise I will go with:

Gov't Mule
Jason Isbell
North Mississippi Allstars

"...wild Jamaican's from Kingston drinking Irish Moss
Listening to Peter Winston Macintosh..."

It will be Rhonda Smith on bass.

As for the blues, here we have the Paladins performing Follow Your Heart, which was written by Ronnie Earl and featured on Ronnie Earl & The Broadcasters' 1988 album Deep Blues

I thought it would be Rhonda on bass, but after viewing crossroads 2013,there was taj.
she is also in several recent jeff beck youtube clips.

seeing paladins at greezefest 2013 ,they had a definite cowboy twang to several songs
but after mentioning bluesfest, returned to the lets buzz sound. more bluesy and definitely dirtier.

It would be nice for the locals if it was Taj but Rhonda is playing the current shows.
As with his last appearance at Bluesfest,it will be a fantastic set and I don't want him to waste time talking to the audience.
Keep it clinical and maximise the set time.

I know that Dave's big thing is Country & the Greazefest sound will reflect the Hacienda Brothers & Stone River Boys, but the Paladins are Blues,Country,Rockabilly & Surf,as are Johnny Greens Blues Cowboys,so I expect a mix.

The Paladins album I have been listening to on my MP3 is "Ticket Home."
In the same vein as Let's Buzz.
I have yet to acquire the live CD "Million Mile Club"

John Mayer might have pipped Govt Mule but have to skip Day One of Bluesfest to see DMB in Melbourne. First world problems...
