Things are heating up here in Bali - it's almost 8 o'clock - All you can hear is fireworks going off EVERYWHERE - and see loads of them lighting up the sky

They KNOW how to party here.

Hope everyone has their best year yet

Peter Noble

Happy New Years everyone!!
Boo hoo!

When you're lost in the rain in Juarez
And it's Eastertime too
And your gravity fails
And negativity don't pull you through
Don't put on any airs
When you're down on Rue Morgue Avenue
They got some hungry women there
And they really make a mess outta you.

probably a good time to be in bali peter. bushfires have closed the lennox-byron road on-off for a week, and the traffic on the highway has been pretty heavy.
much better to be sitting on a beach relaxing.

I don't want to hang up my rock n roll shoes
I get a good time feeling every time I hear those blues.

Good news Spanner1 - Thanks to Waffles, the problem may be solved. I started a thread earlier this year called "Recording records into the computer". Waffles attached this link and it sounds really easy. I promised myself that I would record all my records by the end of 2013 but haven't sort of actually started yet. I'm now feeling inspired again so this can now be my new challenge for 2014. Question is Spanner1 - Have you got a cassette player? It's been a long time since I had one. If you don't then I'll put the feelers out to borrow one from somewhere else. I've been meaning to install the audacity program for other reasons for quite a few months now so this will be the kick start to get me going on that project as well. I will eventually get to listen to that concert again. I just think it's amazing that I will be able to listen to a 30/40 year old recording of a concert and know that I was actually sitting in the audience listening when that particular recording was made. Just realised that while I was typing this you were posting the Ben Caplan review. Sounds like it was an amazing show.

For those trying to record from cassette, try one of these. $20 from Big W

I've been meaning to get one for myself but they never seem to be available at my local.

I saw a dead ringer for Peter Noble in Hobart last night....the post about Bali NYE saved me from embarrassment and instead i politely asked if his name was Peter, just in case. But nope, no New year's beer with the festival director on this occasion. Happy 2014 one and all.
