Close.......Monday 9pm, according to email just received. The Blues Announcement

"Bluesfest announcement number 4 will be knocking on your door next Monday evening, 18th of November at 9pm sharp (NSW time)!
So, are you ready? WE certainly are!

This time everyone...it's all about the BLUES and staying within our Tradition, when it all began 25 years ago, as the East Coast Blues Festival, a small gathering of likeminded music fans in beautiful Byron Bay.

We may have grown over the years and have embraced many music genres but have always stayed close to our roots, so there is no better time to celebrate a real BLUES announcement than for our 25th anniversary."

So we have another round of "needs more REAL blues" vitriol coming after this next announcement?

I reckon Buddy Guy must be due back? Certainly no stranger to Bluesfest, but it's BUDDY GUY - a great anchor name for any blues-focused anouncement.

being the 25th maybe we will get....

rick estrin and the night cats
rod piazza and the mighty flyers
Charlie musslewhite
some of the originals from older fests who are still performing.

after all we have got the paladins coming.
and I know several people coming just to see them.

I don't want to hang up my rock n roll shoes
I get a good time feeling every time I hear those blues.

Here's mine:

Buddy Guy
Walter Trout
Gov't Mule
Black Joe Lewis
Barrence Whitfield
Lonnie Mack
The Rides
Omar Dykes
Honey Island Swamp Band
Trombone Shorty
Robert Randolph
Los Lobos
John Hiatt

My tip is Johnny Winter - as I have just arranged to see him in New York in January. If so, I'll have a review for you!

Last time I checked his schedule there was a gap which would suit....

If it's the blues announcement, then here's hoping James Cotton is at the top of the list. The greatest living blues harmonica player, his life story reads like a history of the blues (he was playing with Howlin' Wolf before 99% of us were born!). He may need to sit down these days, and his voice is gone having survived throat cancer, but ...oh man...can he play the harp!!

They said there will be Blues artists who have never played maybe Clapton?

When you're lost in the rain in Juarez
And it's Eastertime too
And your gravity fails
And negativity don't pull you through
Don't put on any airs
When you're down on Rue Morgue Avenue
They got some hungry women there
And they really make a mess outta you.

would be more than happy to get the following:

buddy guy
gov't mule
the rides
eric bib
tedeschi trucks band
Robert Randolph & the family band
johnny lang

I highly doubt we will see Clapton, but would be quite pleased if we got something like him.

I second this.

Having been lucky enough to see Big Jim a few weeks ago, he still goes real well.

I agree with the return of some of these less well known but great acts, including these as well
Candy Kane
Michael Hill Blues Mob
Marsha Ball
Eugene Hideaway Bridges
Reverend Horton Heat
Kenny Neal

Well I've never heard of half these suggestions and always ready to listen to a band with the name like night cats etc.. Sounds interesting. I think Daniel O Donell will prob preform on Mon night to wind things down. You can see his following in Europe is nothing to be smirked at or made fun of! Massive crowd great interaction a little bit more mellowed than jack Jonson but definitely would attract a similar crowd also adding a world music flavour... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFpuxzBFNgQ&sns=em

I certainly hope Daniel doesn't attract that crowd of balloon children....I'm thinking it will be enough dealing with the mosh pit!

"something for the younger crowd" Plus "never played before"
