I thought Soja in the Apra tent were fantastic.

When they go low-we go high.

Soja played in Jambalaya for both sets.
I saw the entirity of the first set on Sunday.
Yes they were very good.

But Grey Ghost was better.

Have not seen any comment on Allen Touissant.
I saw the Saturday set,and appreciated the opportunity to watch and listen to a such a legendary member of the New Orleans music scene.
Bluesfest would not be the same without its annual N/O touch.
The set started off sedately but in due course with the assistance of the horns, became much more upbeat than I expected, which was brilliant.
Particularly enjoyed the four song medley in the middle.
I was intrigued to count the guitarist playing seven different instruments.

I stand corrected.
I saw only the jambalaya sets[all of one and most of the other].
Did not notice the other sets on the timetable.

Grey Ghost deserved 4 sets.

I was really disappointed with SOJA. I was really looking forward to them, bought their latest CD prior to BF, but for me, they just didn't reach any great heights. Saw them again the other night in Melbourne, just to see if a pub gig was more exciting. Only marginally. The singer is a little bit one dimensional with his voice and seems very preoccupied with his set up. And the most annoying thing is that their lead guitars just don't cut through. The horns and keys just bury everything else. Nothing wrong with SOJA, just a little bland I think.

P.S. Having said that, their song Everything Changes is one of the best hings I've heard in ages....pity they dismissed it with a shrift acoustic version at both sets I saw.

Their dreadlocks were quite well grown.
I suppose it depends on what you expect.
Grey Ghost/Michael Franti are twice as good as the Soja guy.
But I stayed the whole gig which meant I thought they were "quite good"
In regard to how many gigs they played,Rhythms said 4 but I did not use that for the festival....The card is much less bulky to drag around.
I could not see them in Mojo on Sat as I was at Lil Fi & The Dirty Rascals, and the Apra gig is not on the card.
So the 7.30pm Fri gig in Apra has been slotted in after the card was printed.
Which means all the gigs from 7pm & prior have been moved back one slot.
