I don't want to hang up my rock n roll shoes
I get a good time feeling every time I hear those blues.

On Saturday afternoon at 4.00pm on Radio National.

Broadcast:
Saturday 23 March 2013 4:05PM (view full episode) - and available later by Podcast

Nestled in the small town of Hillsborough, North Carolina, is a non profit group called the Music Maker Relief Foundation, run by Tim Duffy and his wife Denise. The organisation began by supporting ageing blues and roots artists who had fallen on hard times. Now, almost two decades later, Music Maker has expanded, finding and preserving a vast collection of American musical traditions. The Music Maker Foundation features musicians each year at the Byron Bay Bluesfest and on the eve of this Easter festival, Into the Music is repeating this feature which was first broadcast in March 2012.

Take a journey through the American South, and discover everything from the fast picking Piedmont blues in the tobacco growing plains, to traditional Haitian folk music in New Orleans and Native American canoe songs from the river-lands on the east coast of North Carolina.

Music maker foundation were absolutely fantastic again this year. Pat Wilder and Dr Burt my personaly faves but all were great. So much fun!

I saw them three times over the course of the event and they were phenominal. I'd love to see them back again next year (already have my tix)!

Caught the Friday set.
Very enjoyable as I expected.
Lively crowd dancing up front.

"An artist never really chooses when and where they will play.It is for promoters to make offers. It comes down as to whether tours are financially viable." Quote John Mayall.
