Didn't realise he had been around so long.
Playing live since he was 12 in the 50's & was gig competition for the likes of Muddy Waters & Junior Wells..
For those that missed out it was a recent Australian interview in which he talked about his career, some of the songs he has written. people he played with & he also mentioned looking forward to Bluesfest. They played quite a few songs but not full tracks.
Funny there was no mention on Bluesfest site.

Hi

On 12:40am - 1:43am ABC2 / ABC4 on Wednesday 6 March

Later with Jools Holland - Duane Eddy, Janelle Monae, the Steve Miller Band - ABC2 / ABC4 (Repeat)
Music | PG
A show for the true music lover which kicks off with a spontaneous jam session, then each featured band or artist performs two to three tracks, mixed with quirky interviews with Jools.

I still love that beautiful guitar tone that Steve gets...his lead work is still majestic.

Bought a ticket to the Santana/Miller show in Melbourne because I love the way Carlos plays. Now I'm not sure who I will enjoy the most.

When they go low-we go high.

Something we can agree on bucetti!! Santana is my favourite bluesfest will be the 3rd time I've seen him

When you're lost in the rain in Juarez
And it's Eastertime too
And your gravity fails
And negativity don't pull you through
Don't put on any airs
When you're down on Rue Morgue Avenue
They got some hungry women there
And they really make a mess outta you.

Mike Chugg certainly gave the audience value for their $135 plus booking fee.
3.5 hours of great music.
The audience left supremely satisfied.
I am pleased I caught both the acts last night,as Mojo will be crowded and justifiably so.

The reviewer failed to mention that the set included a tip of the hat to New Orleans with oohpoopahdoo.
The audience were blown away with the quality of the Steve Miller Set.....As was I...enhanced by Sonny Charles on vocals.
And we know that Santana is a SF rather than LA muso.

Santana very very loud...two elegantly dressed 60 plus ladies seated beside me left before the end because of it....My fav was the hand percussion.

Dear Tim,
I love the guy so much I bought a ticket to the Melbourne show this Thursday.
If we agreed about everything it would be boring.

i have been a steve miller fan for 40 years...even still have a pegasus(flying horse)belt buckle from the 70s.
have waited this long to see him. no guesses where ill be.
this is number 5 for my santana gigs. still plays the cleanest notes of any guitarist.

glad to hear theyre both on fire.

and then followed by tedeschi/trucks. unbelieveable!
i will light up.

I enjoyed Steve Miller more than Santana.
Don't miss the Steve Miller set.
And in saying that,I'm not big on rock music.
But the Steve Miller set was very controlled, not in your face.

As I predicted,I prefer Earth Wind & Fire to Santana.More subtle.

Miller, of course, had his own 1990s second coming of sorts, when Levis adopted his song, Space Cowboy aka the Joker, for a TV advertisment in 1992.

Poor journalism.

We can but hope that Graham Reid has been given the task of writing the Vector review.

There are only three NZ music reviewers who I rate...Marty Duda[expat US],Graham Reid[expat Scot] and Nick Bollinger.
Reid is miles ahead of the field.

Hey Waffles: Last saw "The Steve Miller Blues Band" at Monterey Fairgrounds, Monterey CA in 1967. Boz was still in the band and Loggins and Messina were on the bill. It'll be great to see the Space Cowboy again!
