so bluesfest admin... its january & i'm wondering will you have any announcements for us to ring in the new year :)

i wouldn't mind having any of ozomatli, fishbone, damian marley, michael franti, joss stone or gogol bordello added for some energetic performances.

maybe something for the blues crowd as well would be alright.

anyone else on here think we will see some more artists soon & if so who would you like to have added on top of what we have already?
later

There are 5 time-slots on Thursday and 8 on the other days.
At present, the choice on Thursday is embarassingly oversupplied.
I can see 8 acts of the other days that interest me.
I cannot see how they can fit any more sideshows in to what is already an overfull offering of artists in a brief window.
The Duke Robillard scenario emphasizes the difficulty in scheduling a profitable Au tour for master artists who are not high profile to the general public.
Which means a promoter is left with the option of flying artists out to play festival dates only.
It comes down to a question of economics.
Marginal cost versus marginal revenue.
I can see something being slotted in to replace Madness and Duke.
The Madness replacement would be something big.
Duke only had one slot so not much point getting an artist to spend a day each way on a plane for that.
I'd favour Jimmy Thackery & Fishbone out of the list, but you would have to give them two sets.
There are plenty of Au artists who could be slotted in.

"An artist never really chooses when and where they will play.It is for promoters to make offers. It comes down as to whether tours are financially viable." Quote John Mayall.

I think we need mostly Oz artists to complete the 2013 lineup. 2 melbourne bands doing the Deni Blues over Easter would be a great addition to Tyagarah:
Dirt River Radio & Howlin' Steam Train. Would also love to see Diesel appear this year after his cancellation of a few years ago.

Kasey Chambers is not there yet... has she ever missed one in the last 10 years or-so? She's always one of my favourites too so hopefully this year won't be an exception :-)

i do tend to agree that more aussie & some kiwi names need to be on... for me my picks would be dallas frasca, electric empire, nat col & the kings, six60, chet faker, jakob & others i can't think of right now :)

if i had to pick just one from my suggestions for a madness replacement it would be fishbone without question.

I certainly wouldn't mind Bobby Womack; and Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros. If not this year, certainly for next year.

saw Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros at Dungog this year with Mumford & sons.

they put on a great show/ with wonderful harmonies

think they would be a big attraction if they were invited to bluesfest. something a little different too.

I went and seen James Reyne in Woy Woy last night I think he would be a great addition to bluesfest!!!

When you're lost in the rain in Juarez
And it's Eastertime too
And your gravity fails
And negativity don't pull you through
Don't put on any airs
When you're down on Rue Morgue Avenue
They got some hungry women there
And they really make a mess outta you.

I saw Ray Beadle at Lizotte's Kincumber last night. I asked if he will be at Bluesfest and he said no. The support act was Tim Chaisson from Canada. He recently played Woodford and would be a great addition for Bluesfest

A great, intimate venue for live music. I have seen Ian Moss, Jeff Martin and Tim Finn perform there. How about Tim Finn for BF2013?

It was my first time there but it certainly won't be my last.

Guessing that the next announcement will be mainly local so what chance Jan 26 for next one.

Been fun trying to catch up will all the artists that I haven't heard before. Not many that I wouldn't mind listening to so I'm thinking that any tent might do.
Personally I thought last year would be hard to beat but it may have already been passed.
Are we going to see the screen outside Mojo this year. As it sounds like it might be a sell out it would be good to have it back.

Keeping fingers crossed for a couple of o/s acts but I'm thinking that I might be getting greedy.

With the madness cancelation it wouldn't be inconceivable that we get a high quality international act to make up the gap on Sunday. But that act would then have to organise a national or east coast tour within that timeframe and also compete with all the other high quality international acts not only for ticket sales but also venues availability, would be interested if these type of mug punter views are in any way accurate? I'm "guessing" spearhead or Franti solo Easter Sunday?
