Ok, so im a little slow on the uptake, but I'm now hugely excited that Rodriguez is heading to Bluesfest (again, apparently) this year. I was looking for some mental wallpaper to pass the time on a Perth-Sydney flight and stumbled on the doco "Searching for Sugarman". I hadn't known anything about the Rodriguez story, but wow, what a story it is! Can't wait to see him play for us ...

As side shows Rodriguez is touring with the Break - which should be an interesting mix. Totally different styles - but can't question their musical integrity. These will be great shows.

If you were around in the late 70's early 80's in Aust - you couldn't help but hear Rodriguez. So it is probably an age thing.

(His last appearance at BF was at the very start of his re-emergence - so it was a bit shaky but very well received by a supportive audience. He hadn't performed publicly for many years.)

my cousin seen him a few years back and said he was a little dissapointed so i didnt know what to expect when i went to watch his set at BF2010
but I loved it i thought he sounded great!!

When you're lost in the rain in Juarez
And it's Eastertime too
And your gravity fails
And negativity don't pull you through
Don't put on any airs
When you're down on Rue Morgue Avenue
They got some hungry women there
And they really make a mess outta you.

Saw him at the Basement in Sydney a few years back and I couldn't have been happier with the performance. I'm mean sure he's pretty frail, but the fact that man can even stand up given his life is pretty amazing.

I don't want to hang up my rock n roll shoes
I get a good time feeling every time I hear those blues.

I would assume it's The Break - he's touring with them elsewhere

I have been lucky enough to meet Rodrigeuz and have a wonderful chat with him.A more humble, appreciative and generous of spirit man you would never meet.It was a blessing to see him at Bluesfest 2010.We are very lucky to be seeing him back again at bf2013.

When they go low-we go high.

The sideshow posters/ads seem to be worded that way. Didn't Rodriguez tour with the Oils in the early/mid 80's?

The Break connection makes even more sense then. Since Rodriguez typically plays with a pick up band, I think it's a pretty safe bet
