A more serious thread than I am comfortable posting, one group being threatened by another group, if we don't stop to try and understand the circumstance. we are likely to lump them together as one.

Quote:
DAGABA TRAORE, Hunters community leader (through translator): We're scared of the new Islamic wave. When they see us wearing Hunters clothes, they won't regard us as Muslims. They will automatically think we're infidels who cannot know Allah.

But our external appearance is different from what we feel inside. These foreigners are showing us a kind of Islam which has never been Prophet Mohammed's message, by taking knives and killing others.

I was informed that it affected members of Tinariwen being able to perform at Womad.
I might venture to suggest that radical muslim groups would not approve of Bluesfest.

The desecration of monuments is all a bit deja vu.

If the Syrian crisis expands into WW111,it will change the world drastically.

May the French/African interdiction be short, effective and minimal.

That is a nice thought, but I suspect the attackers have other plans, which include not stopping at Mali.

Thanks Greybeard- just saw her on 7.30 Report and she is extremely concerned about the welfare of her country and population. Just happening to be coming down to Sydney this weekend for a week so I will try to see her on the 20th. Any other recommendations for the fest next week? cheers Spanner
