The Byron Events Policy is in disarray after the Director of the NSW Planning department advised byron Shire council he does not support their quest to align the Byron events Policy to the (OLD) 1988 Byron Local Environment Plan.

The Director, Sam Haddad has stated that the "proposal is not in the public interest." He also said in a letter to the general manager of the Byron Councilthat he "Believes matters of concern to the Council can be adequately addressed through the normal development application process."

thias means that the music loving people of Byron shire, as well as those who attend music and other Arts events, can look forward to a new day - where the Policy, the most oppressive toward Music and The Arts ANYWHERE in australia - is basically gone - over, and that this creative region can start to get crreative again
"It feels like Christmas in July" - said festival director Peter Noble, who also thanked EVERYONE, fans, people in the music industry, everyone for their incredible support throughout the past dark 4 years whilst the good fight for the Arts was fought in the shire.
10,087 signatures and submissions were collected by bluesfest - which the Byron shire councillors ignored - well suck it guys
AND thanks to Crs Richardson, Woods, Heeson and Tucker who ALWAYS voted against the policy - the rest- including anarchists, do gooders, ego maniacs and scum sucking freeaks can go take a running jump - said a member of the Bluesfest staff

Good luck to you.

But as you obviously know. It is one step at at a time when dealing with politicians, bureaucrats and dumb downed staff etc.

Not to mention people with assorted vested interests, what ever they may be.

So please play the game, and be sort of conciliatory and keep on winning for all the music loving public.

Its Politics, your enemy today, may be friend tommorrow. And vice versa.
