Well, the music gods must be smiling down on me - I've just found out that Chuck Berry is playing at his Blueberry Hill venue in St. Louis when we're gonna be there in May! Furthermore, our cousin has a friend who works there so the evening is looking very promising! Woo Hoo!

You are fast running out of friends on this board

Just kidding!

Heading out for the East Coast / Lord knows I've paid some dues gettin' through, / Tangled up in blues.

That's okay, Greybeard, I know you're just jealous cause you won't get to see Chuck play with his ding-a-ling!

Maybe we'll all get lucky and Peter will entice him to come down under next year (no smutty pun intended!)

Unfortunatley - given Berry's record for no shows - there is currently a major lawsuit for his no shows on his recent European tour - even though he demanded the money up front - which means he took it and ran - Bluesfest, is highly unlikely to ever be interested in presenting him

That's a true shame... though surely artists that pull stuff like that quickly find themselves with a choice between either signing more ironclad contracts they can't get out of, or simply not being afforded any offers to tour?

I didn't know that about Chuck - I certainly understand your reluctance to book him.

It seems he is a man with many flaws as well as a lot of charisma.

But I guess you could say that about a lot of artists.

Surely he will make a showing at Blueberry Hill, since it is his own club.

I think I owe it to myself to see him since I will be there.

He may not be a musical genius but he is certainly a legend as well as one of the few pioneers of rock'n'roll left alive.
Along with Jerry Lee Lewis, he is one of the "Last Men Standing".
