So here's posters' fav's compiled lfrom the "Top 5 Acts" thread like on a Brownlow etc basis - 5 points for first, down to 1 for 5th.
Sorry to the "no particular orderers" - yours got ranked in the order they were (subliminarily?) placed
Anyway, a clear-cut winner

1 John Fogerty (66 pts-19 mentions)

2 Bettye LaVette (39-12)
3 Brian Setzer's Rockabilly Riot (38-11)
4 Crosby Stills Nash (35-12)
=5 Donovan (27-7)
Trombone Shorty ((27-7)
7 Great Big Sea (26-8)
=8 Cold Chisel (23-6)
The Pogues (23-6)
My Morning Jacket (23-6)

A Brownlow....... some strange Mongolian yak ? a dark ale ? former Sunhill Police Commander ? no I know its what a Mongolian Yak deposits, yes that's it.

Heading out for the East Coast / Lord knows I've paid some dues gettin' through, / Tangled up in blues.

Yeah you know! - they make Brownlow double-barrel shotguns and I think they had something to do with the war and stuff..

This board has screwed up the points again

1 John Fogerty (66 pts-19 mentions) 66 / 19= 3.4736842 expected 19 x 5pts to total 95

2 Bettye LaVette (39-12) 39 / 12= 3.25 expected 4
3 Brian Setzer's Rockabilly Riot (38-11) 38 / 11=3.4545454 expected 3
4 Crosby Stills Nash (35-12) 35/12=2.9166666 expected 2
=5 Donovan (27-7)
Trombone Shorty ((27-7) 27/2=3.8571428 expected 1
7 Great Big Sea (26-8) 26/8=3.25
=8 Cold Chisel (23-6)
The Pogues (23-6) 23/6=3.8333333
My Morning Jacket (23-6)

The vote value is all over the shop, not what I expected, but I don't know what a Brownlow is used for.

Ah Greybeard, your (presumably self-imposed, because your search engine skills have yielded all manner of information on this board) ignorance of the AFL player of the year voting system has let you down here, even if your maths hasn't.....

Based on the AFL player of the year voting scheme, the top player of each match are ranked and the "points" awarded in descending order. As applied by Arbee in this instance, the points are awarded as follows

Ranked 1st = 5 points
2nd = 4 points
3rd = 3 points
4th = 2 points
5th = 1 point

So, Fogerty might have scored 19 mentions, but that isn't to say they were all "ranked" as 1st. The tally of points is intended to reflect a brader consensus of performance.

Now, if someone would be kind enough as to enlighten us how this ties in with the message board's points system.....

Thanks for the clarification, a very obscure game played by kicking a dead possum.
