Great show from John Hiatt and band tonight at the Corner....y'all are in for a treat at fest. He always seems to manage to pull a great guitarist into his band and this time around we have the Nashville guitar maestro, Doug Lancio, who was last here with Patti Griffin.

I think his ability to recruit top flight band mates speaks to the respect that he has earned through years of touring and a deep catalogue of great songs. A class act for sure. Cursing my rotten timing - looks like I'll be out of the UK by the time the tour swings by mid-year....

Oh wow!! I didn't catch the name of the bass player last night but I think he was a "fill in" for Pat O'Hearn - in fact I doubt he would have been born way back then!! As John Hiatt described him, "he's our hormone replacement therapy!"

I am still buzzing from the show - he's playing twice at fest, don't miss him people!

Good call from Pete.
John Hiatt & combo played two infectious sets at Bluesfest 2012.

The 1993 Austin City Limits DVD has been getting repeated playings.
It is a great set.
While there may be repeated requests for the likes of Gillian Welch,Bluesfest does bring us the creme of what is able to be presented in this genre,to the extent that it is possible to solicit the services of such artists.
As with Rodney Crowell,John Hiatt is an extremely gifted and talented songwriter.
And his stage performance,in what was his second appearance at Bluesfest, was considerably enhanced with the presence of a band.
Thank you Bluesfest.
