I've never been a fan but I must say that she had the most beautiful voice. It think it's very sad that she died.

It's funny the sad irony in singing songs about believing in yourself,
and yet not reflecting these values in her own personal life,,,
If only she could had given that positive thinking rubbish up,
and started singing songs about her own inner demons,
She could have been a Magnificent Blues Diva,,,

in later years she absolutely did sing about her demons... and over her life she sang it ALL pop, gospel, jazz & blues.a DIVA not limited to one genre.

I Look To You

As I lay me down
Heaven hear me now
I'm lost without a cause
After giving it my all

Winter storms have come
And darkened my sun
After all that I've been through
Who on earth can I turn to?

I look to you
I look to you
After all my strength is gone
In you I can be strong

I look to you
I look to you
And when melodies are gone
In you I hear a song, I look to you

About to lose my breath
There's no more fighting left
Sinking to rise no more
Searching for that open door

And every road that I've taken
Led to my regret
And I don't know if I'm gonna make it
Nothing to do but lift my head

I look to you

I look to you
And when all my strength is gone
In you I can be strong

I look to you
I look to you
And when melodies are gone
In you I hear a song, I look to you

My levee's have broken, my walls have come
Crumbling down on me
The rain is falling, defeat is calling
I need you to set me free

Take me far away from the battle
I need you, shine on me

I look to you
I look to you
After all my strength has gone
In you I can be strong

I look to you
I look to you
And when melodies are gone
In you I hear a song, I look to you

I look to you
I look to you

I Didn't Know My Own Strength

Lost touch with my soul
I had no where to turn
I had no where to go
Lost sight of my dream,
Thought it would be the end of me I
I thought I'd never make it through
I had no hope to hold on to, I
I thought I would break

I didn't know my own strength
And I crashed down, and I tumbled
But I did not crumble
I got through all the pain
I didn't know my own strength
Survived my darkest hour
My faith kept me alive
I picked myself back up
Hold my head up high
I was not built to break
I didn't know my own strength oh

Found hope in my heart,
I found the light to life
My way out of the dark
Found all that I need
Here inside of me oh
I thought I'd never find my way
I thought I'd never lift that weight
I thought I would break

I heard Whitney say in an interview that she became "too famous too fast"
Just like Michael Jackson, she found herself keeping a persona alive for her perceived fanbase,
But people that knew her well said she was more like a totally unpredictable party animal,
Popping pills like Judy Garland and hoovering up lines of coke like John Belushi,,,
I would have loved to hear songs about that side of her life,
and that's why I prefer "Winehouse" to "Jackson" or "Houston"
