Hi - we've never been before and are looking for a campsite with not much luck. Can anyone please give advice to a couple of festival greenthumbs?

Well, the on-site camping comes at a fairly premium price, obviously it has the advantage of being at the festival though. Obviously it isn't a dedicated camping ground at other times of the year though....

I've previously stayed at First Sun park in Byron Town Centre, which had excellent facilities, Belongil Fields which is a bit closer to the site with so-so facilities, Broken Head park which is quite a bit south of Byron, but was an excellent park with great facilities. Though I'd suggest it's only really a feasible option if you're driving each day. And I've stayed in (though not camped in) Brunswick Heads, which is about the same distance to the festival as Byron, but with less demand on the shuttle bus services, which I found to be good and reliable.

Other than that, someone mentioned a temporary camp site at the Mullumbimby showground last year, which might be convenient, but which might lack on the facilities side.

Hope that's all of some use to you.

If you are doing the full five days you should definitely stay on site,
Being able to walk back to your campsite and have some time out is a real advantage,
We have been commuting in from the gold coast the last few years (not recommended)
Really looking forward to camping on site this time,,,
