For those who may be interested and available, the ABMF in Goulburn NSW, coming up in a couple of weeks, is a community-based festival featuring a good range of bands spread across various venues. Apart from a couple of ticketed shows at the Workers Club, most gigs are free and there are plenty of them. You can check out the lineup at http://www.australianbluesfestival.com.au.

Hope to see you there!

Thanks Andrew.. had forgot that festival was coming up soon..
And seeing as I live just up the road a little bit, I'll certainly be there.
I saw Chain there a few years ago, and as usual they were fantastic.
See you there maybe..

In case anyone is attending Goulburn this weekend, I'll be playing bass with Quasimodo, so feel free to come up and say hi. Gigs are 2:30 to 4:00pm at the Workers and 6:00 to 8:00pm at the Astor (upstairs), both on Saturday. The printed program may say otherwise, as the schedule has changed a few times since it was printed. Apologies for the shameless self-promotion....

I'll be going but only sun arvo-early evening my mates who will be driveing got mixed up with the dates & had precommitments.
We live only an hour from Goulburn so it's a quick trip over & back.

Well, I was there! Great show. These guys rock hard and their blues is outstanding.

If anyone else was there and knew the name of the bluesy instrumental they played with Jan on the Les Paul, in the style of "All your loving I miss lovin.." meets Santana, would love to know the name of it.

Blues fans, check this band out.

Great to hear Joe Bonamassa and Derek Trucks being played before and after the gigs through the PA. I knew I was in the right place.

This was a fun weekend for performers and punters alike. Plenty of Blues acts (many more than at Windsor, for example) and almost all free gigs. Venues are more spread out than at Windsor, but still within easy walking distance.

Some of my faves were Dreamboogie, Morningside Fats, Tabasco Tom & Doc White (with Broderick Smith), Fitzy & Cara, Diana Wolfe, Ali Penny & DJ Gosper. As I have associations with Quasimodo & Mississippi Shakedown, I won't mention them - damn, I just did!

Highly recommended for the future.

Just got back.
A nice sun arvo.
We saw half way to forth for a lunch time show & a chat with a few others & one of them shared a yarn about our time @ bf 2011.
then we went to the park to see tobasco & doc white Broderick Smith was not only good on harp but a good laugh at times.
We then went back to tatts pub to see hot flush blues band who put on a great show then finished of with hat fitz & cara robinson.
A good arvo!

Went on Saturday, decided at last minute to go & got there about 1pm, wasn't sure if I was going to stay the night as I had not prebooked anything. I went to the motel halfway up the main street & they just had a cancellation which was great as it is located centrally to the venues. I did the same thing last time I went about 6-8 years. ago
I saw The Resonators, Dream Boogie, Shaun Kirk, Tabasco Tom & Doc White with broderick Smith, Ali Penney, Eugene Hideaway Bridges & Darren Watson & the Real Deal Blues band (NZ)
Eugene was sensational great variety of Blues Gospel & Soul, great voice & guitar tones. He is touring around Aus until Bluesfest so if you need a pre Blues fix suggest people do them selves a favour. He was introed by Glen A Baker? & apparently been here 26 times since 1999. For Sydneysiders he is apparently playing the Basement later this week doing a show of just Sam Cooke songs.
Tabasco & Tom with Brod were also a highlight as were the young Dream Boogie.
I hadn't been for a few years but it is a really good small festival held in the pubs & clubs around town. Most of the artists play several times in different venues as well as playing the rotunder in the central park. Being small it has more of a friendly vibe as you see the same people in the gigs & travelling.
Except for Eugene & Chase the Sun entry is free so the price is right.

Didn't see Quasimodo Blues Band but the name definitely rings a bell.
Sorry couldn't resist that old one.
Did have some recommendations from people who saw the earlier gig on Saturday though.

I had a hunch that was coming! Thanks for the feedback.
