My wife's been out all night and I've drunk most of a bottle (well ok, 2 bottles) of wine and been listening to John Fogerty live performances and I can't but help think "Aren't we in for a treat". He's not what I bought my ticket to Bluefest for, but he certainly makes my ticket to Bluesfest worth it.

In terms of the peoples' popular choice,he is certainly the headliner of the Festival.
When he played at Bluesfest 2008,there was of course an enormous crowd.
I wasn't there and as it appears Setzer will be playing at Crossroads at the same slot,I won't be there in 2012 either.
But I have bought the DVD for $9.99 and watched it last night.
Interesting to see that Creedence Clearwater Revisited is playing here shortly at $89 a ticket.
That underlines the great deal punters are getting, having Fogerty as just one spot on the lengthy Bluesfest bill.
The other pertinent point is that John Fogerty wrote all the Creedence Hits, being effectively their only songwriter.

"An artist never really chooses when and where they will play.It is for promoters to make offers. It comes down as to whether tours are financially viable." Quote John Mayall.

I think they will both be on in Mojo, so Fogerty to follow Setzer, hopefully anyway as i want to catch both.

The John Fogerty DVD is excellent & he was one of my alltime Bluesfest highlights. It does look like he will be doing an extra long set, the way I read it he plays one of the classic Creedence albums in full then does a normal best of concert, is this how others read it?

Also I like Setzer as well & haven't seen him before so if they are up against each other then it will be a tough choice.

I hope you are correct.
I'm not interested in Lucinda Williams so if she plays last in Crossroads that would be great.
But the way the schedule is set out at present appears to have the last spot Mojo artists at the top, with the last spot Crossroads artists immediately preceeding them.
In addition, while Rod Piazza has said that Blues is a minority area of music,Rockabilly is even more so.
Stray Cats in Auckland played in a 1250 capacity venue, while Fogerty in played in a 12,000 capacity venue.
So from that viewpoint,Setzer in Mojo does not correlate.
But I hope I am wrong and you are right.
Ziggy played the final set in Crossroads on Thursday & Friday in 2011.
But will he be in Mojo this time ?

Since the guessing has begun, I'll weigh in for the hell of it. I'd go with:

Mojo:
Lucinda, then Steve Earle, then John Fogerty

Crossroads:
Donovan, then Angelique Kidjo, then Ziggy

Jambalaya:
Kenny Wayne Shepherd, then Keb Mo, then Setzer et al

Time will tell. I think Rockabilly late in the evening suits Jambalaya, based on experience. Keb Mo is kind of the odd man out there - he might be on in Crossroads and Donovan plays earlier....

i hope.

I'm so old, can remember laying in bed and either "Choice Cuts" or "Room to Move" played most of COSMO'S FACTORY on a Monday night through my Crystal Set.
Does anyone still have a crystal set?

Rather than a Luddite I'm just in the vanguard of people limiting their exposure to the Carbon Tax
Getting the device's power directly off it's aerial is pretty cool.
I don't have a queen ?? much less plural queens !!

Planting Setzer in Mojo is on a parallel to the year Taj Mahal filled the same spot.
Good publicity for that genre of music.
Of course Setzer plays alot of well known songs which assists his cause.
Looks like I will be spending more time in Mojo than usual.
It will certainly be crowded on Saturday.
The new chair rule will assist with crowd control.

My Dad helped me build a crystal set over 30 years ago using a hand wound coil, a salvaged tuner from an old valve radio and Dad's crystal from his set he built when he was a kid in the 40's. In the daytime you were limited to agricultural reports on the ABC, at night time when the atmospherics improved you could sometimes pick up 2UE over a thousand miles away. In 1979 it was countdown and a crystal set.

I find that hard to believe coming from someone residing in Sydney.

More queens reside in that city than all the royal families combined.

When it comes to radio digital is the new crystal.
With better sound,a vast variety of stations plus the ability to pause rewind & even record & some are solar powered to placate the greenie guilt in some.
The ability to tune into stations that are not only genre spacific but artist spacific it gives the user the choice to listen to John Fogerty/CCR or anyone else till our ears bleed.

No chairs in front of the mixing desk in Mojo & Crossroads.
You have to be prepared to stand for each performance.
There will be designated areas behind the mixing desks in Mojo and Crossroads for chairs to be positioned.
That will also mean that in front of the mixing desk, people cannot take the soft option of sitting in chairs between performances, and standing up during performances.
BBB
No chairs allowed on the Crossroads grandstands.
CCC
Only one chair per person is allowed into the festival.
DDD
If a chair is found left vacant for 30 minutes, at any time,it may be removed to the lost and found booth.
You need to allow for up to two hours for a chair to become available.
EEE
Chairs are defined as standard folding chairs,or stools.
No oversize chairs are allowed.
DDD
I think the same rules should also apply in the other tents.
Jambalaya for crowded gigs suffers from too much space taken up by chairs.
People sitting against the front fence of a tent,in their chair facing the audience, between gigs,is ridiculous.
They have got a rail to lean against,so they should at least stand up.
