I can't figure this..
I was there every day last year,
and I never saw any doggies at the entrance I went into?

I came by one of the shuttle-buses at 11am,
so I'm guessing they were only stationed at the other entrance?
Otherwise I would have been in the jack-wagon with you.

A suggestion, without any responsibility
The Police are probably on penalty rates over Easter, over-time would be expensive so maybe, just maybe their shift is something like 5pm to 1am ?

Heading out for the East Coast / Lord knows I've paid some dues gettin' through, / Tangled up in blues.

in 2010 i witnessed someone busted before the music started.the dog and master walked into crossroads and straight up to a guy seated in
the bottom of the grandstand. talking to him later,he received a warning because he had under 10 grams. hint, hint.

I don't want to hang up my rock n roll shoes
I get a good time feeling every time I hear those blues.

Same here. This will be my fourth Bluesfest and I've never seen sniffer dogs at the entrance. We usually get the shuttle bus from Bangalow.

Police don't get paid penalty rates and they wouldn't be getting overtime either. It would just be a standard shift for them.

11am to 1.30 am a regular shift, surely not!

Ironic that the music clip "Wild & Free" for Ziggy Marley on the Bluesfest home page has lyrics "I see marijuana trees blowing in the breeze. I see hemp fields forever wild and free".

Hope Ziggy doesn't run into one of those dogs....

I have a favourite shirt where the cuffs and lower arm area have somehow become very sticky?
( think I must have got a boiled lollie somewhere in my sleep, and rolled it up & down my arm )
Anyhow someone told me that pig-dogs are trained with boiled lollies as a reward,
and I'm worried that some overexcited pig-dog will pick me out of the line which will make
the jacks turn their limited attention on me! ( who'd have thought! )
The arms of the shirt seem to be getting stickier more and more as this month passes?
so I've decided to keep it like it is and put it on when I attempt to enter the festival.

I predict much confusion with howling & snarling pig-doggies.

{ Can you imagine the scene if a dozen or two blues afficinadoes turned up at the same time, all with sticky arms. }
{ That could be lots of fun. And of course the media would [coincidentally] be there just at that time.. }

One would hope 3times1 might wash his much worn shirt before Bluesfest
Have always thought it would be fun to walk round with a pockets full of those LIVER Ball treats and drop them to the ground al-la The Great Escape's method of placing the tunnel dirt onto the garden beds.

If you're not having fun, you're missing the point

By the sounds of it, all you need to do is identify who Freexone is and walk in a minute or 2 after him. While the dogs are all over him, you could just cruise past. It would be like having your very own doggy decoy.

Covering the areas with old bong water, old roaches or dried crushed leaf would cause no end of confusion for the dogs & their fascist handlers.

I'm not sure who I am more afraid of now,

These strung out physco mutts or their trigger happy masters.

I love the argument if you're not carrying anything you have nothing to be afraid of, Yeah right some drooling pit-bull sniffing your private region while his steroid addicted roid rage prone master stares at you with wild crazy eyes… I'm sure if they allow these animals at the gates again this year we will see a few naysayers join in next year after being frightened within an inch of their lives.

i say get rid of sniffer dogs, but police should be able to use double strength tasers on anyone smoking joints inside the festival/using their chairs in the incorrect area.

Leave the dogs get rid of the police, as an ex C.O.P. the argument that detection dogs need police as minders is flawed. The dogs if properly trained and muzzled should detect a drug mules and sit next to them the shame should be punishment enough- if you are entering the venue and notice a dog following someone you then have the option of making a citizen's arrest based the fact that the dog has decided in their pea sized brain that this person has a 20% chance of concealing an illicit substance if its good enough for the boys in blue it should be good enough for a COP (citizen on patrol)

Just remembered that David Crosby is playing this year, not suggesting he still indulges but surely there is enough residual stuff to keep the dogs amused for hours.
I won't even mention Ziggy Marley, oops just did.
