Oh dear...he was regarded with awe by so many (including Buddy). Privileged to see him perform at fest some years ago with Fiona Boyes and Chris Wilson....he was still recovering from having a lung removed!! Gone to join the Wolf....RIP

Hangin' out on Frenchmen

Very sad I met him once and he was a nice guy.

We saw him at Chicago Bluesfest last year and he wheeled on to stage what looked like a flight bag with him and it turned out it was a mini oxygen machine which he then attached via tube to his mouth and played away.

RIP

"Heavens done called another blues stringer back home"

When you're lost in the rain in Juarez
And it's Eastertime too
And your gravity fails
And negativity don't pull you through
Don't put on any airs
When you're down on Rue Morgue Avenue
They got some hungry women there
And they really make a mess outta you.

B. Dylan

Like Regards, I saw him at Chicago last year....................very frail and on oxygen, but still put on a show.
Maybe the life that they have endured taught them how to fight on until their last breath.
She has been a bad year for losing legends!!!!

My very first ever electric blues riff I learned was the hook from "Spoonful". It was bluesy, and easy to learn. Hubert started me on an electric blues journey.

I'll be playing a few versions of Spoonful tonight.

If only I'd been a bit more alert at my first BF in 2004, I would have caught him.

I read in the Guardian newspaper over here that the Rolling Stones "insisted" that they pick up the bill for his funeral expenses. Hubert was apparently very fond of them, and they of him.

Sorry to have never seen him play.
