I scanned the names....

Joe Satriani = Check...
Steve Vai = Check...

..and I wasn't sure whether I wanted to see Yngwie or not ;-)

but Steve Lukather = Check...

Looking forward to this act.

while i dont think i could sit through 3 hours of G3 ,a bluesfest set could be just enough.how they fit the 3 togeather in that time space
could be interesting.

I don't want to hang up my rock n roll shoes
I get a good time feeling every time I hear those blues.

I'm hoping that allot of people go and see the G3. That way it will clear space for me to see some real Blues and Roots in the other tents! yip yip!

I saw joe at the arena in brisbane a few years back 04 think, 3 and a half hour set with a break at the 2 hour mark so joe could grab a drink and refresh. I was about 21 and even i had a sore back at the end. Awesome Awesome show though played lots of rare b sidey type stuff. Guy is brilliant

I once bought a Joe Satriano DVD then gave it away to one of my brothers.
I have seen Steve Vai on Zappa plays Zappa.
I could not watch either of these guys for an extended period.
Probably explains why I just could not get into Adrian Belew.
Toto is a musician's musician band in this province.
I will therefore have to have a look at Steve Lukather just to say I have seen him play.
Apart from that,as this will be a Mojo gig, there is likely to be something of more personal interest elsewhere.
That apart,I expect that this gig will go off big time and that there will be a monstrous crowd at this set,as there are alot of guitar heads out there.

Just how do people know where different artist will be playing? Is there a playing schedule that includes venues already available?

If you're not having fun, you're missing the point

On second thoughts,G3 will attract all guys and few girls,so they will not need to play in the largest tent.

Because we are sad little people who have attended and obsessed about this festival for too long and picked up a sense of how things typically work. The Ranger, confident man that he is, was only speculating, albeit with plenty of conviction.

Looking at the Friday, I can't work out who they are going to fit in where.....I'd assume CSN will have the Crossroads job (though it could go to Buddy Guy), John Hiatt will probably close Jambalaya (though maybe that will be Steve Earle), and I'd have thought that the Specials, then Sublime in the main tent. But that leaves G3 either further down the bill, or without anywhere to play.

In fact, looking at the whole schedule again, you lot are in for a real treat. Again. I'll be back on board in 2013, so hopefully it can maintain this particularly high standard.

How about Earth Wind & Fire Scott ?
A really big seller in the days of disco and soft soul with enormous airplay.
I would pick this as a Mojo act.
Also Trombone in a later spot than last time,Sublime with Rome,G3,Alabama3,Seth lakeman and James McMorrow.
As Special Beat played Crossroads,I will pick the Specials there, along with Buddy and John Hiatt to be the final three of the day.
I would pick CSN for Jambalaya, along with Harry Manx & Steve Earle solo.

It must be around 2004 I saw Yngwie Malmsteen at The Arena. Similar length set with similar break (sadly I wasn't 21 at the time though)
What I remember most was more Marshalls than I've ever seen, stacked along the entire back wall from stage to ceiling - sorta like Marshall wallpaper. It wasn't just my back that was sore - but most of my hearing is back now thanks :)

Help!
I definitely must be getting old..
Can someone please tell me;
What's a G3?
§
Is it famous?
Is it a band with 3 members?
Or is it something like a U2 or a UB40?
A new size of copy paper perhaps?

And most importantly; Does it play the 'Blues'?

Please refer to first artist announcement, then make up your own mind with regards to the rest
