Hi Guys I have not been able to post here for a long time, due to a dud laptop and various issues.

But any way, Pete and Sara and and any other melbourne ites.

Is anyone going to this gig?

Alan Toussaint

Dirty Dozen

John Cleary

It is a great line up and I think I need to be there, and it is one week after this gig I head back to Nola

Hi Mate
Look forward to seeing you and Christie there, should be a good night.

I am trying to get my mate champ who you met at Bluesfest to come along.

I am also keen to see Robben Ford at the corner, he is always good, and was brilliant at the Continental many years ago.

Work has slowed down big time, so i have adopted the go broke in style theory, and am off to Nola for the Crescent City Blues and BBQ fest, then over to Florida for Magfest and back to Nola for the Voodoo Fest, my liver will be cooked by the end of that.

Can you drop me an email when you can, I lost heaps of details etc.

Was a great night out in Sydney - although a few spectators behind me struggled to get off their bums when dirty dozen asked for some second line dancing. A bit sad really.

Trumpet bells ringing
Bass drum is swinging
As the trombone groans
And the big horn moans

we had a great time in Melbourne the other night, John Cleary and the Dirty Dozen went over very well as did Alan T, although I thought his set was marred by some early sound problems.

A lot of us spent too much time talking up the back of the venue, as it was a bit of a reunion for krewe who only normaly would see each other at Byron, Jazzfest or maybe Great Southern.

There was a decent crowd, and I believe Sydney sold well, so with luck this fact may help bring some more quality shows of Nola music down our way

i caught dirty dozen last night.you just had to move your butt!!
they werent quite sure where they were-and when the crowd said mullumbimby they seemed a bit shocked.
now i know what a sousaphone ?looks and sounds like.

sure hope the predicted storms dont hit caloudra today.

I don't want to hang up my rock n roll shoes
I get a good time feeling every time I hear those blues.

The Opera House was sold out well in advance - a really big crowd.

Jon Cleary spent about two hours after his set talking to fans. Interested to hear about his cameo on Treme and all the time spent on each scene. They don't take a lot of takes but are meticulous with the set-up. Also didn't realise that Mo Hippa was recorded at the Vanguard show from 2008 - a surprise as I was in attendance!

I was there too - it all came flooding back when I bought the recording. It played a big part in me snapping it up and getting Jon to sign it at 2009 Bluesfest. You could pick pretty much any Jon Cleary set and get a worthwhile recording out of it....

I saw Jon Cleary twice in Caloiundra. Once at the tavern and I was sitting so close I almost felt part of the band. The other time was on the Zinc stage where he was joined by a few of the dirty dozen. Both concerts were brilliant in different ways. The one at the Zinc stage was the last concert for the weekend for me so I finished the weekend on a high. The only other time I had seen Jon Cleary was at Bluefest last year and that was brilliant as well so in my books he still hasx the perfect score.

This was a great night out for a gig that would be news in NOLA itself. Cleary put on a great set and it was an absolute delight to see Matt Perrine on double bass. It was a party with the Dirty Dozen and it was a very welcome surprise to see Kirk Joseph on sousaphone. Allen Toussaint played a great set, slightly marred by some technical problems early on, but his version of St James Infirmary was sensational.

Great gig at the Palace in Melb. Saw Sarah and too many other friends to mention. Cleary was fun, DDBB were wonderful and Touissant was generous, despite playin that awful song for 'white folks' the City of New Orleans.

Loved it!
