Going to this for the first time this year...any tips (music, venues, crowds, weather etc)? Hve booked accom in George St so hope to walk everywhere.

Looks like a good line up, cheap tickets & Windsor area is one of my favourite areas of Sydney, though I haven't been & won't be going this year. May have to go there instead of Great Southern Blues next year

Thinking of going, so would also like feedback on people who have gone before.

But it's not on the long weekend in October, it's on in the last weekend in October, so potentially can go to both The Great Southern Blues Festival & The Sydney Blues Festival. So far think the Sydney Festival has the better lineup.

*bump*

So any tips on venues, crowds, getting around ppl? Is everything walking distance or should we bring pushies?

Are the venues inside the pubs?

Thanks

I have been to the Sydney Blues & Roots Festival since 2009.
This year's festival is on the last weekend in October, Thu 27, Fri 28, Sat 29 and Sun 30, October 2011.

The Festival is great, all venues within easy walking distance (don't need a pushbike) far less walking distance between stages and venues than Byron Festival.
I attend both Sydney Blues & Roots Festival and Byron Bay Bluesfest.

Over 80 bands are performing this year, I am looking forward to seeing Folk Uke (USA) Arlo Guthry's daughter and Willie Nelson's daughter.

The first look at the program has now been posted on the site at: http://www.sydneybluesfestival.com.au

Tickets are cheap, camping is cheap close walking distance to the Festival and Windsor shopping centre (for supplies).
Easy access to the Festival from Sydney Metro, catch train to Windsor, shuttle buses from rail station and outlying areas to the festival.
http://www.sydneybluesfestival.com.au/venues

We have thoroughly enjoyed the last 2 festivals and will be attending this year as well. Catch it while it is still not overcrowded.

Thanks GB - scrolled through and that pretty much explains it. Doesn't look to crowded either...noice

Thanks wmorris - won't take pushies

Looking forward to it!

Check out Sydney Blues & Roots Festival, the camping at Tent City is sold out, looks like this this festival is going to be a great success.
I believe that the organisers are currently looking at other areas for camping.
I suggest if you want to go to this festival get your Festival Ticket now, and then get your camping spot when the new area is announced.

Thanks for the info, that's a shame (for me).

But I can't believe after getting a little annoyed at your multiple off topic posts about King Tide, that I posted a comment that gave you a chance for a genuine post about the band!! lol

Has anyone told Ashleigh about this?

Modesty (if I had any) would prevent me from recommending Quasimodo (8:45 - 9:30 Friday at the Vault).

My picks would be Anne McCue, Folk Uke, Bones Atlas & Mississippi Shakedown, plus Jeff Lang, Ray Beadle etc.

I don't know where @rocksteady77 gets their information from?

Direct information from the Sydney Blues & Roots Festival promoters is that Ashleigh Mannix's stage times have never changed.
Ashleigh Mannix has never been programmed for the Rhythms Stage nor the 3pm time slot.
Ashleigh Mannix still has her 3 spots throughout the weekend.

Rocksteady has been making a point of plugging a single act, regardless of whether it has the slightest ounce of relevance to the thread at hand. "Information" doesn't factor into it as far as I can tell.

Can you post a link to a youtube vid of Quasimodo the band (or person), youtube searches mainly come up with the song Quasimodo's Dream.

And thanks ozblues for the info Ashleigh's still playing.

Go away rocksteady, you really are getting annoying. And you risk some people on this forum actively avoiding the band you keep trying to promote (as in, if someone as annoying as you like them......)

Hey guys take it easy. All I know is that she was listed to play the main stage at 3pm till 3.45 then King Tide is playing that spot and that's a big reason why I'm going to the festival .You go figure it out.I think you will find it was a honest assumption that she wasn't playing the festival anymore seeing as some one else took her spot so late in the game. She is cute though.I can see why all you old pervs would be upset she cancelled.Have you listened to what she does? She has talent and she will get there. But at the moment she's got some living to do.

Alas, no You Tube footage of Quasimodo exists, to my knowledge. I suspect no one has been game to put a video camera in front of them. Sound files can be accessed via http://www.myspace.com/qbluesband. Hope to see you at Windsor.

At the risk of alienation, I will desist from further shameless self-promotion (at least on this BB).

@rocksteady77 Ashleigh Mannix was never scheduled to play in that spot on the Rhythms Stage, King Tide were brought in at the last minute to take the place of Sarah Mcleod, who unfortunately cancelled.

Please send me the copy of the information you have which shows Ashleigh Mannix's was performing on the Rhythms Stage.

Ashleigh Mannix is scheduled to play on the Fender Mall Stage Friday at 5pm, the Restaurant 22 on Saturday at 10pm and Trolli Stage on Sunday at 2:15pm.
