dale watson and the lone stars..bluesfest 2011..
interesting story in todays sydney morning herald about dale watsons visit to bluesfest-or moreso about his flight to get to bluesfest.
seems dale brought 120 cds with him,and on his flight from melbourne to sydney with tiger airways, tiger charged him $500 excess baggage
to carry the cds-and then lost them. dale hasent seen the cds or the return of the $500 charged yet.

SO...hes written a song about the experience..naming tiger airways. the songs called TIGER AIRWAYS-WE DONT CAREWAYS.
and you thought they only wrote songs about trucks, bars and fill up stations.

I don't want to hang up my rock n roll shoes
I get a good time feeling every time I hear those blues.

So that is why I did not get my Dale Watson CD at the festival and have the opportunity to get it signed.

$500 extra for 120 cds is a bit over the top.

That explains why Deke Dickerson only brought out around half that number of DVDS & CDS.

I will send Dale an email to apologise for his poor treatment downunder.

And I will email Tiger to give them my thoughts.

Will he come back to Australia after this bad PR story ?

Dale & the Band played two great sets at Bluesfest 2011.

"An artist never really chooses when and where they will play.It is for promoters to make offers. It comes down as to whether tours are financially viable." Quote John Mayall.

I probably would have bought one too, Patrick. Dale & the Lonestars were a highlight for me. He is obviously a regular visitor - given his songs & anecdotes ("fill up with Phillip at Gumly Gumly") - so let's hope he returns to sing the song for us!

yeah i gather the excess wasent just for the cds. good luck with the emails, apparently his manager has sent a dozen email with no reply.

he does mention going to byron in the song,so its probably worth getting him back just to hear that song.

dale has brought out a book on band etiquette-i bet he didnt count on this happening.

I'd have thought they'd have plenty of time, what with their fleet out of the sky and all.....

If the tour had been a few months later, he might have been driving from Melbourne at short notice
