I don't know about anyone else, but i am disappointed with the line up for the 20th year (so far).

Where are the BIG names - i know Ben Harper and John Butler are big names among the fans that follow that style of music but in past years there has been more big 'international' names from a broad range of musical styles?

This is my 10th year and i would never miss a festival. I love seeing the big names that wouldn't normally tour Australia, play at Bluesfest, and we always make new discoveries which is a treat and one of the joys of the festival.

I hope i'm proven wrong! 7 weeks to go and counting down!

When the second announcement came out,by then I had sufficient artists announced that I do not need any more.

Remember.........

Always look for the obscure and the unknown.....

Let the masses be sucked in by the notion that the best acts are the ones where people line up all night to get tickets.......

The Popularity of music has an inverse relationship to its Quality.

I am going to see.......

Thursday

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy
Sonny Landreth
Watermelon Slim & The workers
Seasick Steve
Mic Conway's National Junk Band

That is Thursday filled up

Friday

Zappa plays Zappa
C W Stoneking
Tinariwen
Hot Club Of Cowtown
Watermelon Slim & the Workers
Pete Cornelius & The Devilles
Rodney Crowell
Mic Conway's National Junk Band

That is Friday filled up.

Saturday

Lucinda Williams
Eric Bibb
Tinariwen
Big Bad Voodoo Daddy
Seasick Steve
Eugene Hideaway Bridges
Hot Club Of Cowtown
Rodney Crowell
C W Stoneking
Pete Cornelius & The Devilles

That is Saturday filled up.

Sunday

Lucinda Williams
Drive By Truckers & Booker T & The DBT's
James Hunter
Tony Joe White
Ruthie Foster and her Band
Eric Bibb
Jeff Lang
Eugene Hideaway Bridges
Watermelon Slim & The Workers
Dallas Frasca
Bob Log 111
The Bamboos

That is Sunday all filled up.

Monday

Special Beat
Booker T Jones
Drive By Truckers & Booker T and the DBT's
Tony Joe White
Ruthie Foster and her Band
Jeff Lang
Dallas Frasca
Bob Log 111
The Bamboos
Mic Conway's National Junk Band

That is Monday all filled up.

Please no more announcements,my mind can't cope [except Hat Fitz and Itchy, the Mojo Webb Band and Johnny Greens Blues Cowboys of course].

You'll need to move over just a tad Patrick

Im right beside you.

I must admit I was a bit nonplussed at first but actually thinking about who and what makes me think this year could be up there with the best

Mr Bindog I was going to add that as punishment for criticising Mr Noble's undoubted good taste, fcoss09 should have to spend a weekend at your house being musically educated.

I also add a few "maybes"

Blues Traveller
Nu Yorican Nights
Alabama 3
Toni Childs
Blind Boys Of Alabama
Luka Bloom

Predictable that you'd get the "don't buy a ticket" response. Negative, unfriendly and no feedback for the organisers.
Plenty of people will buy tickets and have a great time so no reason for management to change a thing.

Having said that I agree with you - same old artists year after year.
Has anyone worked out how many times artists have appeared at the festival?
Basically if you don't like Harper/Butler/Rudd or Franti then find another festival.

Personally I think it's a shame as there are so many artists out there to choose from.
That's why I attend 1 year in 3 and this year just for a day - if I loved the lineup it would be 5 days every year but that's just me.
The acts will get old one day . . .

I don't watch Harper Butler Rudd or Franti and I don't need to find another festival.

You are clearly judging this festival by what is presented in Mojo.

Do not go to the Mojo tent at all.

Restrain yourself from doing so.

Only go to the four other tents.

Then you might learn something,[or you might not if you have a closed mind]

I prefer to go with the "find another stage" approach. It has been extremely fruitful for me to date.

my ears are bleeding harper and john juice, maybe next year they can start a whole new festival called the benny and johno show and we can all have a hug in a big circle and wipe each others tears while they go though 2000 guitars each and talk about the environment( while the crowd drops crap all over the ground).. the other stage idea sounds good to me..
ps maybe jack john and ben stiller can come and do a little dance at half time......

Quite simply put...Zappa plays Zappa. If you have not seen Frank live, this is your only chance to see some real magic. Dweezil and the crew WILL blow your mind. Thats my 2cents for Friday night anyway.

Yet more negativity from Pan.

A rubbish comment suggesting that Bluesfest consists of four artists.

Why attend something you know you are going to hate, just so you can moan about it afterwards as well as before.
