...because he will completely upstage any band that comes after him and the rest of the night will be a disappointment.
...that is, until he is THE headlining act for Bluesfest!
You heard it here first!
Go Ray!

Couldn't agree more! Was my pick of the fest - in many ways, of all the acts I saw, was the one true 'blues' artist (well, other than BB but he didn't rip it up like Ray and his band). Can't wait to catch again them at Blues on Broadbeach next month!

He was a good old dose of awesome, that's for sure...
... pretty sure the dude on keys was Lachlan Doley (of The Hands - another act well worth your time)

he was playing like a demon on the small stage .. apra or juke joint .. cant remember .. but his sound was lost .. not sure if volume or just tone issue .. but it certainly didn't cut through like adam pringle's tele .. i was waiting to get clarity .. but his tone wasn't cutting it amazing playing though and hopefully the tone thing was a one off

Saw him at the Apra and his tone cut through just fine ... have also seen him solo on acoustic at Nighthawks in Melbourne and he is awesome in both setups - won't be long before he is recognised as a crossroads/mojo act. He is already that good.

The bass was really high in the sound mix.
And what was with that organ player (insert multiple swear words). Think it was the same guy that completely ruined, for me, Harry Manx' set at Batemans's Bay last year. At least being an electric set, wasn't as bad as that.
(Mean no disrespect to his ability to play the organ, but personal dislike of the sound of the organ & I think the organ overwhelms rather than complements the sound of the guitar)

Stunning performances by a number of Polynesian artists at Bluesfest 2011 were a highlight for me. Only caught the Thursday set,as on Friday I foolishly hung Mojo around waiting for Grace Jones to appear instead of heading off to Apra to catch Ray's second set. Since Bluesfest 2010,the bar has been lifted again. Such passion and inspired playing. Especially loved it when he jumped it. Peter Noble came on stage and said that BB and the Blues Shacks were a find of the festival. If I had a choice of two tents with RB versus BB & The Blues Shacks I would pick Ray.

he may or may not play crossroads, but he will play blues on broadbeach on the 28-5-2011 and then theres joe bonnamassa at the brisbane tivoli on the 21-5-2011 GUITAR HEAVEN!!!!
I don't want to hang up my rock n roll shoes I get a good time feeling every time I hear those blues.

Joe bonamassa at the enmore syd, five songs off of dustbowl last part of the set was exactly the same as blues 10 with led zep flog and his acoustic song.Listen mr beadle is a hell of a player. Bluesfest do not treat him in trhe regard he deserves. but if he joined nobles production mob hed be upfront on mojo just like kim chirchill. No .... he is not in bonamassas league. end of conversation.

I've been to a lot of Ray gigs, and a couple of Joe gigs (including the one last month in Sydney) If they played at the same time and I had to choose, I honestly wouldn't know who to see - flip a coin I guess. They are both in the awesome league in my opinion.
